About this listen

Daniel Brasher left a high-paying job as a money manager to work at a job he loves, leading counselling sessions with recently paroled ex-cons. Now he's ready to move on and start a private practice.

But before he leaves, he finds an envelope in his mailbox - one intended for someone else. Inside is an unsigned note that says: "admit what you've done or you will bleed for it. you have 'til november 15 at midnite." The deadline has already passed and the person to whom the envelope was addressed was brutally murdered.

But this first warning is only the beginning. Soon, Daniel finds more warnings in his office mail, to people that the police cannot track down, victims that cannot be saved. Daniel's efforts, however, have alerted the killer and next he gets a threat of his own.

With the clock ticking, Daniel - with no clue what he's supposed to have done or to what action he must confess - must somehow appease, or outwit, a ruthless killer.

Greg Hurwitz is a great writer and sets the ball rolling with an incredible dilemma to unravel. This book had all of these points but this one seemed to want to add so much 'right-on' elements to the characters and their background, that adds no value to the book and almost distracts.
It was good but almost instantly forgettable.
That said the story had all of the compelling elements that you expect him to deliver, the twists and the turns.
Jeff Harding delivers it all with his stunning performance, (as usual).

A good read but not his best

Great pace, interesting characters based around a therapy group session so may not appeal to all. I loved it.

I found this book slow to get going. The writer whilst doing his research should have uncovered or known that giving a female character haemophilia makes the character unbelievable as it is a condition that is only suffered by men, it can be carried by women but only manifests itself in men, it made me question if other research was accurate.

Slow to start

Totally engrossed throughout. Initially thought it a bit too descriptive but doesn't put me off reading more of his books.

Brilliant

Narrator s versatility was excellent and believable . Plot was strong and twisting , I tend to listen in the garden , so my neighbours might think me crazy . Lots of Oh no and gasping moments

Very enjoyable listen
