About this listen
I’m living a double life.
During the day, I help women gain their confidence and look their best.
On the weekends, I encourage women to embrace their sexuality on the darker side of the web.
After all, sex is beauty.
When my older brother’s best friend appears at my family’s cabin the night I’m filming an episode, I’m surprised to see him. It’s been six years since Reed vanished from my life.
After learning where he’s been and why, I offer him an opportunity to start over. Reed is reluctant. He’s on probation, loyal to my brother, and doesn’t want to do anything to jeopardize his freedom.
So we agree that his identity will remain a secret and that my brother will never find out.

But it was also more than that. It was funny and heartfelt, and the chemistry between the two main characters was very clear. Chemistry that was made only more apparent by the narration of Lidia Dornet and Sebastian York.
It’s also got a surprising amount of depth. Friendship and sacrifice are themes throughout. Also, the idea of owning our sexuality, embracing it as much as we embrace other aspects of our personalities. Not shaming others for their liberation.
This is definitely one to get on audio if that’s your thing. I’d listen to Sebastian York read the freaking weather, frankly, and he was as good here as always. And Lidia Dornet did a wonderful job of bringing warmth and humour to her reading.

Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet were great with their characters and really had me enjoying the story more because of their narration. I do think this is the spiciest book I have listened to with SebYo.

This is a standalone story which follows Vanessa, an early 20s makeup influencer, and her brother's best friend, Reed, who has just been released from prison.
Vanessa is hiding a secret hobby, selling *videos* online. She's incredibly sex positive (which is great), but very demanding. I did get some spoiled rich kid vibes, which isn't surprising from the way her brother Noah treats her.
Reed is supposed to be a really caring and protective character, however I wanted to see more about his relationship with his mum. He was so easily persuaded by Vanessa, and went back on pretty much everything he said.
The spice was excellent, and was probably my favourite thing about this book. There was a lot of chemistry and it made up a good portion of the plot (keeping it hidden, etc.) However, there wasn't much else going on. After Noah discovers the truth, and then calms down again, there was still 20% of the book in which... Nothing happened. There was no jeopardy after this point which felt very anticlimactic.
The narrators were Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet. Both performed well, especially the New York accents from Lidia Dornet. I did feel Sebastian York lacks a little variety in his voices, as he is so distinctive.
Overall, I may listen to other stories by this author, but I won't be running for her back catalogue.

This audiobook has a lot of schmut, a lot of sexy times but not a lot of character growth or plot.
Another thing this book has in spades is women empowerment and a crackdown on misogynistic views.
Seb Yo as Reed was amazing; Lidia Dornet as Vanessa was incredible.
