Story
A collection of Taoist visualizations seldom taught outside China. This ancient system uses traditional Taoist imagery to build self-awareness, unity of mind and body, and - ultimately - enlightenment. While healing with imagery is relatively new to the West, its use in China dates back to Taoist texts from the third century B.C.E. These healing techniques induce an "alpha-theta" state, where the unconscious comes to consciousness, and the mind reaches a blissful clarity.

Story
In every mystical wisdom tradition, nonordinary states of consciousness have served as essential tools for discovering why we are here and how we can live richer, more meaningful lives. For over 40 years, Stanislav Grof has tested and brought these methods into the field of modern psychology. Are emotional states and behavioral patterns explained solely by brain chemistry and life experience - or could they be expressions of far vaster universal energies? Which specific mind states most powerfully accelerate integration and healing of the self? And how do you access these states? In The Transpersonal Vision, Grof answers these questions - and raises many others - in a stunning summation of his groundbreaking life's work. You will learn about transpersonal psychology's daring forays into the worlds of the shaman and the mystic; how your perinatal (birth and prebirth) experience profoundly affect you even today; what past-life, near-death, and out-of-body phenomena teach us about our life purpose; and much more.

Great Listen
I found this audiobook satisfied my curiosity and served as a great introduction to Taoism. I was able to follow the Taoist concentration meditation and experience an altered state of mind. Obviously this isn't the best for driving a car. :)
I think the audiobook may have benefited from providing more details, however it may be that it strikes a good balance between too few and too many details.

Good basic introduction
This was my first introduction to Taoism and I received a very clear picture of the way and the core teachings. Clearly read, easy to follow with simple introductory practices attached. However I am missing the study guide which was referred on few occasions but is not delivered with the audio book.

introduction only
It is well written and uncomplicated. The one thing that is not pleasant is that he includes a long and 'real time' meditation walk through at the end of nearly every chapter. this makes it unpleasant if you feel like listening to the information and insights without sitting through a 15 words in ten min. slow meditation. On the other hand the meditations are very effective since they make you want to sleep.

Wonderful teaching!
Mr. Cohen has done a wonderful job of not only explaining Taoism, and it's history, but how it's philosophic view has always and will always relate to the world, and how learning about it and practicing it will enhance one's life. He also talks about health and even Feng Shui from the Taoist viewpoint. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Eastern Philosophy.
