INGRID BIERLEY
That summer was supposed to be ordinary: laughter, sunshine, and childhood adventures. My cousin, though only eleven, carried herself like she was older. She looked like a 15-year-old. She was 5.8 ft tall, with a woman's body already, curious and bright, with a spirit too bold for her age.
When she came to visit us, she saw my neighbor so much, that asked me to stay with my family for 3 months for summer time, I knew it was not me the reason, but still will like her companionship, since I have 3 brothers and lost my little sister of leukemia, so I was so excited that our home was going to be filled with her energy and her stories.
Her family never knew the real reason of her staying at our house, they never imagined their little daughter was starting to feeling like a woman because of my neighbor Giacomo, he was a cute boy, barely thirteen, but look like 16, they had a first sight crash, It was a summer of innocence on the edge of something deeper, a first crush, a taste of freedom, and choices made too soon.
I never imagined that my cousin staying for the summer would end in a tragedy. The lesson here is to think twice before you disobey or rebel.
If she wouldn’t escaped, she would still be alive.
