Summary
Daniel believed that his parents were enjoying a peaceful retirement on a remote farm in Sweden, the country of his mother's birth. But with a single phone call, everything changes.
Your mother... she's not well, his father tells him. She's been imagining things - terrible, terrible things. In fact, she has been committed to a mental hospital.
Before Daniel can board a plane to Sweden, his mother calls: Everything that man has told you is a lie. I'm not mad... I need the police... Meet me at Heathrow.
Daniel is immediately caught between his parents - whom to believe, whom to trust? He becomes his mother's unwilling judge and jury. Presented with a horrific crime, a conspiracy that implicates his own father, Daniel must examine the evidence and decide for himself: who is telling the truth? And he has secrets of his own that for too long he has kept hidden...
Gripping and unusual...

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this book as I think it was a brave decision by the author to write a book so different from his other books as they were so good.Would you be willing to try another book from Tom Rob Smith? Why or why not?
I have already read his other books and thought they were fantastic. I was waiting anxiously for this book to be published.Would you be willing to try another one of James Langton and Suzanne Toren ’s performances?
I would avoid listening to James Langton in the future as unfortunately I do not thinkhe is a very good narrator. With regard to Suzanne Toren I think the choice for her to narrate as
a Swedish mother was wrong as she doesn't even sound Swedish. Italso doesn't help that she narrates in a different book and as a Jewish grandmother she is fantastic. She was the best thing about the book.
If this book were a film would you go see it?
PossiblyOkay story but terrible mistake with narrators
