Summary

The star-studded and sidesplitting follow up to The Andy Cohen Diaries.

The megapopular host of Watch What Happens: Live and executive producer of the Real Housewives franchise is back, better than ever, and telling stories that will keep his publicist up at night.

Since the publication of his last book, Andy has toured the country with his sidekick, Anderson Cooper; hit the radio waves with his own Sirius station, Radio Andy; appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher despite his mother's conviction he was not intellectually prepared; hosted NBC's primetime New Year's Eve special; guest edited Entertainment Weekly; starred in Bravo's Then & Now with Andy Cohen; offended celebrities with his ongoing case of foot-in-mouth disease; and welcomed home Teresa "Namaste" Giudice from a brief stint in jail.

Hopping from the Hamptons to the Manhattan dating world, the dog park to the red carpet, Cardinals superfan and mama's boy Andy Cohen, with Wacha in tow, is the kind of star fans are dying to be friends with. This book gives them that chance.

If The Andy Cohen Diaries was deemed "the literary equivalent of a Fresca and tequila" by Jimmy Fallon, Superficial is a double: dishier, juicier, and friskier. In this account of his escapades - personal, professional, and behind-the-scenes - Andy tells us not only what goes down but exactly what he thinks of it.

BAD Sequel. Vapid. Bad Dog Owner. Full Of Self.

Having loved the previous book this was a chore to get through. I was so disappointed that my appreciation for Andy greatly reduced. He seems so overtaken by his role that he's become aggressively vapid. Also his relationship with his dog is insanely co-dependent and I can't stand hearing how many small attacks this dog has made with him brushing it off as oh the dog was abused. Just zero heart.

Was so excited but disappointed

I was sooo excited for this book.
I was disappointed.
Andy was entertaining and I love his enthusiasm when he reads but I expected a lot more stories / substance.
This book seems true to its title: "Superficial".
Meaning even when he describes more than just what he did that day...has an anecdote...he seems to just breeze over it ...lightly brushing on it so much so that you sometimes almost miss it.
I feel like this was an over promise under deliver situation. Total bummer.

Wanted to love it...but

First let me say I took other reviewers advice and listened at 1.25. Also, I love everything Bravo so I was going in a fan and wanted to love it. But it was a little overhyped and if Andy wasn't over himself by the end - I was. It becomes whiny in places where no one can possibly be empathetic. (Sorry, not sorry Andy that your closet is palatial)?

I kept expecting tales of fun escapades or crazy housewives adventures. Doesn't happen. It's a daily diary of who he saw & where - but nothing salacious like I thought. It's good if you enjoy Bravo & Andy but it's not everything I expected. I wanted to badly to love, but came away with like.

Gossipy and at times ..............flat

Would you listen to Superficial again? Why?

He does what he does - so don't get to bothered when he over-acts. No, i would not listen to it again -- this is like a gossip newspaper - you just peruse and throw it away - that is the purpose of it all, and NOT a Churchill Biography....LOL

Very disappointed

I was looking forward to Andy's third book. The first two had been outstanding, this one was a disappointment for me. This did not feel like a look into his life but more a lame attempt to follow up a truly great second book. I am an Andy fan but this book needed something more or less don't really know!

Engaging and refreshing

AC invites us to be part of his world, filled with famous friends and excitement. He breaks the fourth wall(?) a few times and I felt like one of his girlfriends sipping rose`. Loved it and will listen again and again. 💜

superficial indeed

did I really buy this?
yes, you did. Meh.
nothing much new beyond what is already out there--except for his bathrooming habits, which I could've lived quite nicely without that knowledge. the title does not lie.

Love Hanging Out with Andy

I felt compelled to write this after reading some not-so-great reviews that complained of this book being kind of a shallow diary...well...I mean...it doesn't say it's going to be anything else! Judging the book that Andy actually wrote, not the one I may wish he would have written (RH trash talk, obvs), this is so enjoyable. I DO think it's interesting to see how a person like Andy spends his time each day, and how he considers decisions. While he maybe didn't write a book of essays that consider things like his place in gay culture or adopting a dog that doesn't behave perfectly, those topics come up authentically and he gives his real thoughts. In real life, we usually don't stop and ponder these issues for hours at a time - they arise, we ponder, make a decision to do something or not, and move on, and that's what Andy does here. Listening to this audiobook, I imagine myself almost roadtripping with Andy and listening to him talk about both the major and the mundane. Mazel, Andy!
