Summary
In the fourth Super SF Double Feature, writer Kevin Candela brings you two tales of creeping, relentless terror just in time for the world's real favorite holiday: Halloween.
In Vapor, a man trying to collect his thoughts bellied up to an out-of-town bar turns at the sound of screams to see other patrons dissolving right in front of his eyes. He makes a panicked escape, but that's only the beginning of his problems - because he's a witness to what happened, and that can't be allowed.
Then in Chiller, an uneasy alliance of corporate-minded "pioneers" and scientists come across something impossible: a spot not that far under the ice with a temperature reading of close to 200 degrees below zero. Tense debate ensues...until the anomaly vanishes. But it's not gone, it just moved. And when they find it again they keep probing until...well...anything more's a spoiler.

Another good one !
Kevin Candela with a series of books, each got two short stories.
This one is two horror stories, and listening to them is joy especially because you are done with in two hours living you with the after effect thoughts to deal with ( plenty of time before sleep takes over ).
As usual Benjamin Prickett narrates every character beautifully !

"Here's to the shapeless monster."
The Super SF Double Bill contains just what it says on the box: two short but intense science fiction tales, just like going to the movies used to do. and both are made all the more horrific by The invisible, unknown threat.
The first, Vapor, starts with a man in a bar but turns within sentences into an impossible horror sight which has him running as fast as he can, not daring even to go home. It's a great story with terrifying implications - and, for this reader at least, an unexpected ending.
The second is much colder: set in that still near unknown land of Antarctica where who knows what might lie beneath and best left undisturbed? Both stories, though short, are visual, impressive pictures in the mind. Benjamin Prickett further enhances the listening experience with his well paced narration.

An entertaining trip to the Drive-In
It’s hard not to love this latest pair of short SF stories from Kevin Candela. They wear their inspiration proudly front and centre; being based very much on classic science-fiction/horror stories that many listeners will be intimately familiar with. Indeed, Kevin actually acknowledges these, both in the intermission and directly in the second story.
I found them both thoroughly entertaining and an enjoyable nostalgia trip into the 50s films that I enjoyed growing up with on TV. The author manages to present an original slant on both stories, but don’t expect any shocking surprises or hugely unexpected twists, it’s quite likely you will get a good grasp on the denouements sometime before they arrive. Of the two, I found the first to be more enjoyable, but worth were more than worth the time.
The narrator presents the stories very well, adding to the overall atmosphere and enjoyment, my only quibble,being a fan of classic British TV, is that the name ‘Quatermass’ (from the 50s series and films) is pronounced similar to ‘crater’ and not ‘quarter’!
Recommended.
