One thing moves God: faith. Not doctrinal savvy. Not willpower. Trust in God alone stirs him to move miraculously on our behalf. Time and again, Jim Cymbala, author of Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, has seen the power of faith displayed in the lives of the ordinary people in his church, and in his own life. He has seen drug addicts and prostitutes set free, marriages restored, and sinners transformed by the love of Jesus Christ. All through the kind of radical, living faith described in this audiobook.

Smartphones, Wi-Fi, and even the electric light bulb were all groundbreaking, history-making inventions that started out as crazy ideas. Our see-it-to-believe-it generation tends to have a hard time exercising true faith - one that steps out, takes action, and sees mountain-moving results. Many of us would rather play it safe and stand on the sidelines, but it’s crazy faith that helps us see God move and reveals His promises.

Summary
If you're not daring to believe God for the impossible, you may be sleeping through some of the best parts of your Christian life.
“This book is not a Snuggie. The words on these pages will not go down like Ambien. I’m not writing to calm or coddle you. With God’s help, I intend to incite a riot in your mind. Trip your breakers and turn out the lights in your favorite hiding places of insecurity and fear. Then flip the switch back on so that God’s truth can illuminate the divine destiny that may have been lying dormant inside you for years. In short, I’m out to activate your audacious faith. To inspire you to ask God for the impossible. And in the process, to reconnect you with your God-sized purpose and potential.” (Steven Furtick, from Sun Stand Still).
Critic reviews

God directs you to this audiobook
I believe that you didn’t come upon this book by chance or coincidence. You read/listen to it because God has a message for you. You just weren’t aware that you needed to hear the message. If you looked at the title and the blurb and felt intrigued, the God has something to tell you. Get the book.
I listened to the audiobook in one sitting (it’s 2021 and I’m in lockdown in London). This pandemic is focusing my mind - finally. I was becoming stir crazy and Zoom Churched out, because I can’t do anything! Or maybe I won’t do anything. This book takes that lethargic attitude and puts jumper cables on it. Isaiah 51:1 and turns the switch!
You have to get this book because you’re curious about the subject matter. God has led you to this book. Don’t assess it by denomination, God isn’t focused on that - He’s focused on you glorifying His name when you show up to show the world how Great your God is and how strong and powerful your faith is because of Him.
I will begin reading this book again and make notes, action plans and pray. This is the great thing with audiobooks, you can get immersed in the narrative (Steven is a preacher, so it’s perfect), The Holy Spirit can inspire you, then you can go back and make careful notes. And pray.
Thank you, Steven. Thank You, Jesus.

Great! Inspirational! Moving!
What did you love best about Sun Stand Still?
It reminded me that that God wants us to have great life. Not the ordinary 9 to 5; waiting to retire at 62 life. It's not an easy thing to live an extraordinary and fulfilled life, and God is with us but we must have an audacious faith.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Joshua
What does Steven Furtick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His reading is alive.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Milk and Honey
I was predisposed to love this book, primarily because over the years, Joshua's life and his battles have impacted me. It isn't so much the battles that I enjoy; primarily I'm awed by his faith. When I listened to this persons account of their life; speaking about how their faith opened doors; in the telling of the story, he too experienced 'Sun Stand Still' miracles. Yet, I didn't have the same degree of awe as I'd experienced when reading about Joshua's accounts. I suppose I wanted to hear more. Perhaps, I needed fuller descriptions. But, all in all; I cannot deny that, in his life he too experienced God's miracle working power.

Strategic.
It is an awesome read. It compels you to move forward and not accept or do the basic. The mundane things we do is unacceptable. To win for Christ and do for the kingdom, you must push past the limits. Especially the ones we have been so comfortable with. We have to do it in prayer.

Some Reviewers Must Not Have Read This Book
This work has been characterized by some bloggers as a book that promotes "Name It/Claim It" doctrine. I did not find anything to support such allegations. In fact Furtick goes to great lengths to challenge readers to pray audacious prayers, not for their own benefit, but to glorify God. Some reviews were so far off base I wonder if they read any of the book at all. Very little of the book will make sense to someone who does not believe the Bible.

Audacious!
I haven't read a lot of Christian books but of the few that I have read this definitely is by far my favorite. In this book, Pastor Steven, gives the tools we need to have that audacious faith most Christians seek to have. If you allow it, this book will revolutionize the way you pray and teach you how to pray without fear. Since he's the narrator it give it the personal touch to the book which truly made a difference. It was like he was preaching only to me.

Honest!
What did you love best about Sun Stand Still?
I love the honesty Stephen Furtick has when he talks about anything and it still is true with his book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Furtick talks about himself, his family, and many other people with different circumstances within this book. I can't choose a favorite but I like that his accountant guy is named Chunks. Then there is a man he mentions (I forgot his nickname) that was brought to Christ, then sent to jail. Furtick was worried about him and the man seemed happy that he could go to jail for the time he had to pay for crimes he committed so he could start a revival of Christ in the jailhouse.
Which scene was your favorite?
Probably when Stephen talks about him in college and inviting everyone on his floor to come and eat his food, how quickly he ran out of food and how he had to keep up with this plan. His determination is fun and funny.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I listened to it in two parts so I practically did listen to it in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
Stephen Furtick has a way of telling a story that puts you in his shoes so you experience it with him. He doesn't stand in front of you preaching at you or behind you, he's with you.
