Summary

Life in a small town can be tough. It can be even tougher when you're a witch whose magic regularly backfires. But Summer Thorne only wants one thing: to create the perfect sanctuary for unwanted animals. Nothing and no one is going to stop her. Not even the sexy sheriff who is determined to shut down her rescue center. And certainly not the laboratory where she illegally obtained her mischievous chimpanzee, Morty.

Sheriff Cooper Carlyle has one goal: to keep his town safe. That includes his stubborn neighbor, Summer, whether she wants him to or not. When the animals of Summer's menagerie get loose and create havoc, he decides enough is enough. But things aren't always as they appear, and Coop stumbles upon the secret the Thorne sisters have been hiding.

Coop and Summer discover Morty holds the key to unlock a 20-year-old mystery surrounding the death of Summer's mother. Now Coop is faced with breaking the law he is sworn to uphold in order to protect Summer and her beloved pet from a threat more dangerous than any of them imagined.

Tm Cromer weaves a magical world

I've been waiting for this audio book for ages. It was well worth the wait!

Can’t wait for the next in the series!

Loved listening to this book at 1.25 speed. All the snark of the characters comes to life! Though this is not the typical genre I read, by the end of the book I became totally involved with the story line, characters and the humor throughout. Looking forward to more of this story!

Could have been

Great story line but it was rushed. Every chapter had either cooper pushing summer away because she did magic or following after her and confessing his undying love. Then there are the multiple twists after half a chapter. I mean how many plot twists can one book have in 3 chapters. It was a great storyline just needs to be polished and refined.

Just okay for me.

Well, if you want ANY questions answered you’ll have to move on to the next book, and probably the next one after that. The ONLY thing left at the end of this story was a HEA. Anything else to make you understand the book will come in Autumn Magic, maybe. Which I don’t intend to read. Coop and Summer were too on-again-off-again too much for me. The magic was fun but the story just wasn’t there.

One reviewer on Amazon said this was geared for teenagers but, umm, no. There was sex in this, and the F-bomb was used 53 times. WTH are teenagers reading nowadays, according to that reviewer? So glad my kids are grown.

As to the narration: Abby Craden did an okay job with this book. I don’t usually like her because her male voices are just bad. But she’s settled that down now.
