About this listen

She was a challenge he couldn't resist.

He was a risk she couldn't take.

Sassy mouthed and impervious to Lance's charm and football-god status, Abby knew their relationship was doomed before it even began. He would leave in August, and she would be left behind. Just like all the other men in her life.

His honesty and caring wins her over, and she decides to take a chance on a limited-time fling. But with summer drawing to its inevitable close, will they be able to maintain their emotional distance? Or will they both be heartbroken in the end?

This is a lovely sweet storyline. With likeable characters and the age old issue of heart over mind. A great performance.

I read Lance and Abby's story in 2020 but I received a free audio copy and I was happy to re-read the audio version again as I thoroughly enjoyed reading it the first time.

Lance dealing with the fear of disappointing his family, Abby is dealing with her difficulty socialising, her feelings of abandonment and difficulty of taking care of her mum while trying to finish her education. They both cared for each other but there were so many barriers  to overcome before either of them can commit to a serious relationship. The characters and situations are relatable and I was totally invested in the way their lives panned out. This was truly an enjoyable read.

A realistic and emotional romance.
