About this listen

From USA Today and number-one Amazon best-selling author Jeremy Bates comes a tale of mystery and horror set in Japan's ancient Suicide Forest, a place that is easy to enter but, for some, impossible to leave.

Just outside of Tokyo lies Aokigahara, a vast forest and one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in Japan...and also the most infamous spot to commit suicide in the world. Legend has it that the spirits of those many suicides are still roaming, haunting deep in the ancient woods.

When bad weather prevents a group of friends from climbing neighboring Mt. Fuji, they decide to spend the night camping in Aokigahara. But they get more than they bargained for when one of them is found hanged in the morning - and they realize there might be some truth to the legends after all.

Great opportunity for a fab scary story... but it's drawn out, boring and didnt give the impact it could have, sorry

Opportunity squandered I'm afraid

I didn't really like the characters, and their behaviour often seemed to make no sense. the story overall isn't bad but I think would have way enhanced if the character would have been more relatable.
I think other stories by the author are way better, and this was one of his weaker works

Could have been better

Wasn't expecting much, but I was wrong. Could definitely imagine being there and feeling the despair.

The atmosphere

I could not stop listening to this book wow fantastic storyline, I was so immersed with the characters I could feel their anguish and fear. Narrator excellent brought the whole book to life.

Marvelous horror story. Very well read. As with all good horror there was clearly a lot of research that went into this story. It only shows because it's such a great tale, with real depth to the mystery. Great listen.

Scary and tense
