Summary

Emmys Leben umspannt fast ein ganzes Jahrhundert. Ihre Kindheit auf einer kleinen Nordseeinsel ist geprägt von Ebbe und Flut und von ihrer verbitterten Großmutter Alma, die Schulpflicht für Unsinn hält. Als der Erste Weltkrieg ausbricht, ist Emmys Schullaufbahn ohnehin beendet, noch bevor sie richtig begonnen hat. Alles, was ihr bleibt, ist ein Leben als Dienstmädchen im Tollhaus der Zwanzigerjahre: Berlin. Schnell lernt sie Hauke, einen Sohn aus reichem Hause, kennen. Der "eingebildete Fatzke" zeigt ihr das Leben und so einiges mehr. Es folgen drei Kinder und die harten Jahre des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Doch Emmy bietet dem Schicksal die Stirn und verliert nie den Humor - und jetzt, im reifen Alter von sechsundachtzig, schon gar nicht. Bis ihre erwachsenen Kinder auf mysteriöse Aktenordner im Keller stoßen, und zu ahnen beginnen, dass Emmy womöglich nie das naive Mädchen von der Insel gewesen ist, für das sie immer gehalten wurde. Könnte es tatsächlich sein, dass ihre Mutter auf einem Vermögen sitzt? Die beiden Ältesten lassen bereits die Sektkorken knallen. Aber noch hat Emmy ein Wörtchen mitzureden...

Faszinierend und spannend

Hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Manchmal kamen jedoch noch Fragen auf. Kann natürlich sein, dass im Buch mehr erklärt wird.
