Summary

Professional athletes, surgeons, first responders - all perform remarkable feats in the face of intense stress. Why do they thrive under pressure while others succumb? What separates the two is attitude. Resilient people meet adversity head on and bounce back from setbacks. They seem to naturally exude an inner strength - but studies show that resilience is something that anyone can build.

Analyzing the heroic exploits of US Navy Seals and others who succeed against all odds, Stronger identifies five factors that combine to unlock deep reserves of personal power:

  • Active optimism - believe that you can change things for the better.
  • Decisive action - you can't succeed if you don't take the leap.
  • Moral compass - face any challenge with clear guiding principles.
  • Relentless tenacity - try, try again.
  • Interpersonal support - gain strength from those around you.

Drawing on the unique perspective of a standout team of authors (a stress management expert, a skilled entrepreneur, and a Navy SEAL), Stronger explores the science behind resilience and explains how you can develop this vital trait for yourself. Whatever your profession, today's demanding world calls for a special kind of strength. This revealing book holds the key.

Inspiring stories but light on the science

There's some interesting stories, and some interesting scientific claims made early on, but as it progresses it becomes more and more anecdotal.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. The content is so practical, well delivered and timely. Everyone should read this book, more than once.

A performance and book worthy of repeat listens!

This book, read by my favorite performer, is thought-provoking and inspiring, for amy person. The lessons are universal, and are ones I want to share with my children, my colleagues, and my friends. I have listened multiple times, gleaning something new each time

Good Presenation, Well Done

Would you listen to Stronger again? Why?

I might. I am an amateur runner, obstacle racer and martial artist. This book was informative and inspirational at the same time. Often I will listen to a book on this topic and return to it if I need a refresher. This book falls into that category.

What did you like best about this story?

No nonsense. A clear approach to a topic that can be daunting but within everyone's grasp.

Have you listened to any of Sean Pratt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have, he narrated Relentless. I really enjoyed that book and his work here is just as good. I enjoy him as a narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Be Tougher Than Your Life.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to become better in business, sports or just life in general. Its a short book but is packed with information that can make you a better athlete, leader and/or person. Highly recommend.
