About this listen
Phoenix - I never intended to become a stripper.
Two years ago, I was in Nashville chasing the songwriter dream. Sleepless nights between day jobs were spent writing rock ballads and trying to make a name for myself.
That all changed with one phone call that forced me to return to Atlanta. Needing consistent income to pay the mountain of debt I'd come home to, I traded stripping my soul for stripping my clothes.
Then Archer West comes crashing into my VIP room, tempting me to break all of my rules.
I want him - bad.
What I don't count on is finding him living right next door for the summer. Inexperienced and with a creative drive that rivals my own, he stirs the lyrics in me once again. Now I crave more than his body. Archer West has quickly become my unexpected muse.
Contains mature themes.

Loved it

Loved the storyline - skilfully you learn the back history of the two characters through the story, and build a perfect image of them
This is my first listen of a Babylon Crow book, certainly won’t be my last - the verse, almost poetry like at times is so well penned
Never wanted it to end

I liked Phoenix & Archer, they were adorable together. Uncle Isaac was a delight & had me in stitches everytime he was on the page. CJ & Caleb were ride or die & I loved that!
Now, maybe I'm far past adolescence & have no patience for melodramatics... Now, if you choose & accept to date a stripper, you've really got to accept what comes with the territory!
It kinda devolved into some melodramatic telenovela/soap opera storyline, which & I can't believe I'm saying this... but soaps do it better!
Usually, the innocent party is drugged & it's staged to look as bad as possible & had that been the case, I honestly would've understood the melodrama, as it was... it was more irritating than anything else.
Regardless of what job you do, you have to be professional at all times. Personal business is just that... personal!
Archer losing his mind over what was clearly Phoenix doing his job was ridiculous, his expectations for how Phoenix should've handled it even more so. He knew about the party, they're surrounded by clients, so nothing iffy is going on.
Had the scene followed the telenovela formula & Phoenix had been drugged & he walked in on what he thought was going on at the locker room... then, he'd definitely have a point, as it was it honestly just felt really childish to me.
TBH, Archer does seem very young with how he's written, his age is never specified, but I'm assuming he's in his early twenties, but honestly he felt a lot younger than that... almost like a teenager at times & the melodrama didn't really help that opinion...
but it's still an good book, worth a listen & I'm sure many people will understand why he got somewhat upset, when he himself said that he knew they'd been set up 🤷♀️
