About this listen

After matching online, two strangers—played by Heléne Yorke (The Other Two) and Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel)—meet in real life. The vibe is off, and the conversation is a mess. Yet something is keeping them in their seats. What begins as a typical date off the apps spirals into something unexpected.

From Succession writer Miriam Battye and director Katie Posner comes the show that sold out theaters in London, took the Edinburgh Fringe by storm, and made its New York City debut Off-Broadway at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre. Strategic Love Play is an award-winning, razor-sharp “comedic tour de force” (The Guardian) that The Evening Standard calls “as gripping as a friend’s rapid-fire texts from a disastrous first date.”

Available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

I missed the play when it was in London so was pleased to hear it’s now on Audible. Despite being an older generation listener I thought the whole play was relevant to dating today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish there was a second instalment

Great performance and script

This is a play. Not a book.

I hated the ending. Mind you, I hated the beginning and middle too. The performances were OK, but the character of Jenny was repulsive.

Hated the ending

Really not sure what I was expecting but it certainly wasn’t this! Annoying characters with equally annoying narrators.
Plot was dull.
Definitely not one I would recommend.

Painful listen
