About this listen

Strange Nottingham features a selection of true Ghost Stories and UFO Sightings from across the whole of Nottinghamshire.

Nottingham has a rich and dark history that dates back well over 1,000 years and throughout this long history it has played the host to countless ghostly figures. Some ghosts date back to the cities very early days, and have been continually reported ever since, whereas other specters are recent additions to the county.

Ghosts have frequently been seen in some of the cities caves and its oldest of pubs but they've also appeared in supermarkets built as recently as the 1980s. And in 1987, just south of Mansfield, the county was also home to an alleged UFO crash.

All the witnesses are adamanent they know, just know, that what they saw was real.

As well as chronicling some of the city's strange events the book also serves as something of a potted history of the city. It is jam packed full of curious historical factoids.

So the question you have to ask yourself is this:

Are you ready to dive headfirst into the Strange side of Nottingham?

Another great addition to the Strange Britain series. Strange Nottingham is a similar mix of ghost stories from across the area, a couple from the famous pubs, Ye Olde Trip & Ye Olde Salutation, as well as some very strange UFO tales. More solid narration, another recommend ghostly anthology.

I found this book most enjoyable, ! Not horror stories but around 30 actual stories about the strange happenings around the county of Nottinghamshire, it is a most interesting and informative book, the author Adrian Finney obviously has a deep knowledge of the subject and certainly gives the listener food for thought. I liked the whole book and it would be difficult to pick a favourite but espescially the story about the ghostly AA man I thought amusing. Peter McGiffen's narration is enthusiastic, punchy and clear, I love his style of narration, I believe there are more books in this series, indeed the last 3 stories in this book give tasters of future offerings. I shall definitely be looking to read more of them.
I was kindly given this audio book by the narrator and have given this honest and voluntary review.

Ghostly Nottinghamshire!
