Must listen for new narrators

An excellent guide for anyone planning to become a professional audiobook narrator. Short and to the point but still packed full if tips to help you find your full potential. Insight from both a professional narrator and an audiobook producer.

Although this book is aimed at people wanting to make a living as a narrator, it's also relevant to authors interested in narrating their own books.

Respect!

Have been an audiobook book fan since 2000 and a Lorelei King fan since discovering Charley Davidson and First Grave, back when it was the only Grave book! In Storyteller, Lorelei and Ali pull together how they, and so may others, do what they do, to bring to life the stories we enjoy.
Not just for those interested in becoming an audio book narrator, but for anyone who enjoys a good listen and have ever been curious how it’s done.

Great Introduction to Voice Overs

Thank you for putting this book together and sharing your experiences. As I begin my own journey narrating my own children’s chapter book series, Fraydo The Dragon, I learned valuable narration tips on character voice development and story telling techniques.

It will be a challenge but I look forward to fearlessly digging into the project (thanks to your encouragement).

This book should be required listening for narrators

Lorelei King and Ali Muirden have put together a fun and instructional book. This book covers subjects from deciding to be an audio book reader to developing character voices, to how to keep your voice in shape. How to mark up the script to highlight an emotion behind a sentence. What not to eat or drink. If I were thinking of becoming an audio book reader or voice over actor, this book would be required listening.

Limited Scope

Good content here if you want to become a professional audiobook narrator. Unfortunately, I wanted to find out about narrating audiobooks of your own content and not in a studio. There was nothing about that. Still, I did glean a few tips here and there.

By pros, for those wanting to be pros.

Excellent. one of the few how narrate books with useful voice examples. and even though I don't plan on working with a producer, it was useful to have both sides of the booth presented.

useful and entertaining!

I found this book super useful for learning how to audio record my upcoming book. Having the voice of Stephanie Plum explain everything made it even better. Get this book before you record any audiobooks!

Conversationally Written. Masterfully Read.

Lorelei is an absolute master of her craft, and getting inside advice from her was not only such a leg up but also just plain fun!

There’s a moment (among other brilliant moments) in which she showcases her ability to use subtle manipulations to mold her voice to fit a cornucopia of characters. My wife, a YA author, and I were blown away.

We’re both professional actors and are hoping to record audio for her own novels, and this is such an invaluable tool.

Thank you, Lorelei and Ali. Cheers!
