Summary
In Paul Doiron's Stay Hidden, a supposed hunting accident becomes a dangerously complicated murder investigation in this intricately-plotted new audiobook thriller featuring Maine Game Warden Mike Bowditch.
A woman has been shot to death by a deer hunter on an island off the coast of Maine. To newly promoted Warden Investigator Mike Bowditch, the case seems open and shut. But as soon as he arrives on remote Maquoit Island he discovers mysteries piling up one on top of the other.
The hunter now claims he didn’t fire the fatal shot and the ballistic evidence proves he’s telling the truth. Bowditch begins to suspect the secretive community might be covering up the identity of whoever killed Ariel Evans. The controversial author was supposedly writing a book about the island's notorious hermit. So why are there no notes in her rented cottage?
The biggest blow comes the next day when the weekly ferry arrives and off steps the dead woman herself. Ariel Evans is alive, well, and determined to solve her own “murder” even if it upsets Mike Bowditch’s investigation and makes them both targets of an elusive killer who will do anything to conceal his crimes.

Don’t Try to Fake a Maine Accent
Returned this book, just couldn’t get past the horrible fake Maine accent of the narrator. I am a huge fan of Paul Doiron, will get this book from Kindle, but just couldn’t listen to it.

Always keep them guessing!
I finished listening to the audiobook while flying home from Eastport to Wiscasset in our Cessna. No way could I leave off listening until the book was finished! Absolutely nothing was predictable. Flying over the water near Mount Desert Island, I tried to figure out which chunk of rock was the inspiration for Maquoit. My only complaint was with the narrator on his pronunciation of occasional place names.

A really good read
I have read every work from Paul Doiron. I have never been disappointed, and I wasn’t with this book. It must be incredibly hard to conceive new plots to entertain and Mr. Doiron does this incredibly well. I continue to highly anticipate each and every new novel, and especially the new plot line.

Nothing new
This book is a rehash of the same story just set in a different location. Too many characters all sounding the same. Main character never seems to get any smarter despite all the lessons. Sending this book back.
