About this listen

An ideal introduction for beginner and seasoned stargazers alike from the astronomers of the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

Astronomy expert Tom Kerss offers complete advice from the ground up, introducing the world of telescopes, planets, stars, dark skies and celestial maps, explaining the best ways to plan your stargazing experience and the key things to look out for on specific dates throughout the year.

Bridging the gap between human curiosity and the need for scientific expertise, Stargazing allows a complete novice to understand our place in the cosmos and enjoy the beautiful and extraordinary wonders of the night sky.

The accompanying short further resources booklet allows you to follow the star charts explanations on the audiobook. This booklet is available from https://collins.co.uk/products/9780008196271

As someone who is new to the world of stars and stuff, I thought I would give audible a whirl whilst cutting the grass and see if a book could give me some pointers.

What I would say is manage your own expectations, this is not my first rodeo and they is a lot of information to read out and get across.

Since I am learning at the moment a lot of the information went over my head but I do know from previous wanders into reference listening that it comes back to you later on when you put it into practice.

There was a little bit of repetition. I definitely know I need a red torch and plenty of warm clothing. (It’s an in joke, you will need to read the book)

All in all, I can recommend this book and I will read it again in the future after I have had a wee look at the stars.

Reference books are always hard to get right

Am I missing something?

Can Audible (or anyone) explain why the paper back version has 224 pages while the accompanying PDF has 44 pages?

Thank you in anticipation 👍

An Accompanying PDF Lol

Audible need to help make factual books like this come alive with timed visualisation, so not to depend on the imagination of the reader.

Tough to articulate something so visual
