About this listen

Being insatiably curious is a good way to end up dead.

Rain Christiansen, cold-case detective and reluctant medium, is very aware of that fact. But when infamous serial killer Thomas Kane wants to meet, there's no way Rain can say no. He also can't refuse Kane's offer - find his missing wife, Delilah, and he'll reveal the location of his victim's bodies.

Rain has never turned down a good quid pro quo, and he doesn't intend to start.

The hunt for Kane's wife leads to yet another cold case, three copycat murders, and an investigation where nothing is as it seems. Soon, Rain is dealing with a ghost unlike any he's ever dealt with before...a ghost capable of doing things he shouldn't be able to do. How can Rain control something he doesn't even understand? And what will he do when the unknown threatens the safety of the most important person in his life?

Rain is starting to realize that he can only battle the supernatural with the supernatural, and that is spooky business indeed.

Still not sure that I prefer Kirt doing the narrating...Noah Michael Levine just made Rain so snarky, but it is what it is [down to Author's preference] and this is me shutting up 🤐. The narration wasn't bad but I wouldn't give Kirt any points for his Aussie accent I'm afraid 🤨. 4 stars for the narration.

This is a really good series and I’m constantly laughing! but for it to be book three already and rain still! Not truly accepting **ALL** of himself is a little jarring.

I understand this has a more natural way towards the paranormal, with using chants and pendants and light as well as energy to manipulate the energy battle Rain always has with the ghosts.

Which I’m not saying is bad! Since I love a more natural stance instead of trying to fight the supernatural with more supernatural things, (which I’m not sure exists in this universe, I think it’s more spiritual things.)

But it’s so slow….he learns new things about his skills and he makes decisions, as fast as paint dries,
He fumbles through so much of this, which would be endearing if we were still in the introduction phase of these characters, but I’ve spent almost 30hrs between all three books I’ve listen too so far learning and growing with these characters, and Rain is still in the same spot, it’s like he has developed the environment around him has.

I’m sorry this review has so much negative sayings, I’m not criticising I was just a little disappointed that only now does Rain find this whole ghost thing dangerous when Danny was hurt, but he himself was thrown from a fucking bridge and almost died himself.

Anyway! Enough of all that I’m so excited that they’re getting married and that Rain rescued Walter/Walts from the pound! Literally the only dog that likes rain is an elder who spent most of his life with a serial killer as an owner and couldn’t give a flying fuck. 😂

I really wished Rain was a little more open to the expanding their family angle, I would love for Danny and Rain to have some kids or a kid of their own! I know full well Danny would be an incredible father he is so fucking sweet, he’s just a teddy bear in reality to his rough exterior.

I hope they have some in the future! And I love Kirt graves he was such a good pick for these books! I love his narration and the quick wit and sassiness is so infectious I’m constantly randomly bursting out in pure cackles and scaring all of my family members. 😂

So getting book four in three days when my subscription renews!

This is really good!

The characters have developed immensely since the first book leading to a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Kirt Graves narration is brilliant as ever!!

This is one of the best paranormal mysteries around and I just love the relationship between Rain and Danny.
This book is much darker than the previous two and you definitely need to read them to get full enjoyment from this book. There is still plenty of snark and humour coming from the two main characters and Rains oddball family to offset the darker side to this story.
Kirt Graves continues to superbly narrate and I can’t wait for book 4!
