Speaking Peace presents a seminal four-part model you can use immediately to connect to the spirit of love and generosity within you and start contributing to the well-being of everyone you relate to.

For over 40 years, visionary author Marshall Rosenberg has used the process of nonviolent communication to help families, schools, businesses, and governments reach accord in seemingly impossible conflicts. Join this pioneering voice to learn:

  • How to use your natural empathy to defuse stressful situations and safely confront anger, fear, and other emotions
  • Proven skills for overcoming dehumanizing communication patterns that block compassion
  • How to see through the eyes of others to foster understanding
  • And more

Marshall Rosenberg teaches that when you convey what is alive in you, your true feelings, and the values and desires behind them, you establish honest, nurturing relationships that eventually fulfill everyone's needs. Mini version of Marshall Nonviolent Communication

Amazing as all Marshall books.
I especially love parts when B.Marshall sing his own songs. He isn't a singer but with those songs you can see his heart, they are easy to understand and inspirational. If you want a short intro to Nonviolent communication this is what you need. Otherwise I would recommend to read the original book.

Very much needed in our time

Marshall's kindness shines through everything he says. He shows a way forward for how to communicate in a way (with others and ourself) that values people as human beings. I know from own experience that when I really feel heard and understood it is so much easier then to really hear the other person and I become willing to find a solution that works for both of us.
This way of communication needs some practice, though. It has inspired me to look further into NVC.

Really great book, so needed for our times.

Great narration by the author. He has really helpful stuff to share and a great voice. The first half of the book is more of a how to explanation. The second half talks about the gang like structures in society and communication based on manipulation, force and punishment. He shares better ways to connect and find mutually beneficial outcomes for all. I really enjoyed that part of the book more than the first half. I always feel slimed when people use positive psychology as a way of talking to me and feel frustrated, manipulated and unseen. This explains why that is. I really liked this book and will listen to it again. Highly recommend.

Essential book on communication in relationships

We all have needs (ehich is not the same as being "needy"). Knowing our "true" needs is not that simple and expressing them with clarity and compassion even less simple, but Marshall R shows us simple steps to happy relating.

wisdom

the author

1) Gave me genuine tools for conflict resolution
2) made me feel hopeful that no matter how hard the situation I can become useful in resolving things, rather than feeding them
3) this helped me meet my need to not take things personally in a difficult current situation

highly recommend,)
