I like horses better than most people. After years of supporting our local equine rescue, it’s safe to say that I have a certified hate-on for the rodeo. So why is Luke McCall, injured rodeo diva, in my training paddock?

I feel bad that he was outed by the media, and I get the need to regroup out of the spotlight. I might even be willing to admit that he’s a little more vulnerable than his Rodeo King persona would suggest.

But seriously—why does he have to recover in my bunkhouse?

I thought volunteering at a queer-friendly horse ranch was a stroke of brilliance—I’d get to hang out with horses while rebuilding strength and mobility after my injury. Win-win, right? Wrong.

Rebel Sky’s gorgeous foreman hates my guts on sight, even if he is willing to protect me from the bigots who just want a shot at the fallen cowboy.

What would it take to get him to see that I’m a good man with a soft heart and a helpful little rope kink?

Luke and Sparrow’s story is wonderfully romantic, swoony, and full of fantastic lines (“being drop kicked out of the closet,” is a personal favorite). Rebel Sky Ranch is such a fun place to hang out.

Declan Winters has the perfect voice for these characters. His pacing, accents and emotion make for an immersive experience.

With unforgettable characters of the animal persuasion (Q, Sprite, Butters, Cisco) and human (Colt, Trip, Warwick, Desi) this book glides into the ears and warms the heart. Certain pool parties and barn shenanigans add heat and there’s a couple heart-swelling moments at the rodeo.

5 stars across the board.

MM, Enemies to Lovers, Cowboys, Contemporary, Romance. Fantastic second book in the series and while I think it can be listened to as a stand-alone I think that due to the lives of the characters being so close to the other characters in the series that you find out so much more about everybody/everything if listened to in series order. Lots of angst, heat, wit and humour as well as some very emotional moments, a great binge listen with a guaranteed HEA.

Kelly Fox is an author that as soon as a new book hits, I drop everything else to read it (listen to it in this case) and this book shows why. Sparrow and Luke seem like oil and water at first, but as time goes on things begin to change… the heat, love and genuine emotion all show through with Declan Winters excellent performance. Absolutely stellar!

I forget sometimes just how amazing Kelly Fox is at creating characters. Sparrow and Luke are just wonderful - their relationship and how it progresses from enemies to lovers just had me listening non-stop.

I really love the beliefs and values that Kelly’s characters have and their overall strength of character to believe in themselves - it makes for amazing, heart warming listening.

Also, Declan Winters smashed both characters - really embodied them both and their different personalities and styles very well. A great narrator.

Kelly Fox & Declan Winters team up to bring a steamy, funny, swoony enemies to lovers romance with shibari elements. Such a good story. I love Kelly's characters & Declan brought all the smokin Spanish /Latino vibes, emotion, humor, & perfect timing. Fantastic job & the last 2 books in the series are gonna be even better on audio too!
