Grumpy Landon Podesta is on a reluctant hero’s journey. The visit home begins with shielding a good woman from a bad man’s intentions. Followed by becoming caretaker for a recuperating father, his beloved biker bar, and the rundown homestead. The break in the clouds? A stubborn memory of the dancing woman. And how it felt being her protector.

Widow Kim Ripley knows herself and the life goals she intends on reaching. Get son Hunter through college, keep the family home in Smyrna, find a fulfilling job. Being rescued in a bathroom by a brooding bartender was not part of the plan. But a freight train barreling right for you is hard to ignore.

Southern Comfort by Leslie Pike book 2 in the Tennessee Sons series

Performed in dual narration by Ava Lucas & Connor Crais

This the second book in the Tennessee Sons Series by Leslie Pike and is the story or Landon Podesta and Kim Ripley, who happens to be the sister of Coulter who we met in the first book.

Leslie’s writing just flows and it is so easy to establish a connection with these characters emotionally it makes this story charming and engaging from start to finish.

Landon is has a heart of gold which he hides under his grumpy exterior, but he comes home to help is dad run the family's biker bar every now and again as he never wanted to stay in his small home town, and falling with someone is not what he is looking forward especially when he has a life and a business miles away, that’s until he rescues Kim from a terrifying situation at her brother’s engagement party at the bar setting off a chain of events he never imagined.

Kim has been a widow for 10 years raising her son Hunter, and we briefly met her in the first book when she is recovering from a serious car accident, but when she meets Landon she decides that maybe it’s time to start dating again.

Landon and Kim’s chemistry is totally believable and is made even more so by the funny banter and touching moments, especially when Landon is dealing with Hunter.

I loved this story, it was warm and so easy to listen to that I became totally immersed it.

Narrated in by Connor Craisand Ava Lucas, the dual narration was fantastic, bringing Landon and Kim’s emotions and heartfelt want for each to life.

This series has me loving Tennessee! I met Kim in the first book briefly as she was recovering from a horrible accident. Now back in action, she is happy working at the animal clinic. Out for the night at the local bar, she finds herself in a compromising position, but saved by an unexpected man. Landon is in town visiting his father and he is there just in time. And now he can't get her off his mind. So much so he asks her on a date only to be cut short when his father takes a fall. Now she has woven her way deeper into the family helping with Landon's father, but there will come a time when he has to go home. Plus Kim's son Hunter will be back from college. Where does this all lead? It's sweet, and romantic, winning my heart as these two work their way through the trenches. I loved all the secondary characters, bringing in some humor, sage advice and the family feel that Pike always brings in to make me feel at home. This is a fabulous addition to the series. Loved it!

And here's to one of my favorite narrating teams! Connor Crais and Ava Lucas show this couple the way. Crais uses his voice to go from sparring with dad to wooing Kim. I am all in with the warmth in his voice. Lucas always brings it, and as Kim, she not only lets the woman learn to love again, but she uses that mom tone with such ease, even I was listening! These two can do no wrong and could not have been more perfectly cast

Kim & Landon!

It is great to be back in Leslie Pike’s “Tennessee Sons” world again for another wonderful novel, a fantastic small-town romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. This second book of the series stands on its own, but characters from the first book make appearances, and knowing their backstory adds some depth, and seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. Landon Podesta was back in Smyrna, his hometown, visiting, and while out at his father’s bar he saved a woman who was about to be an attacker’s next victim. Kim Ripley recently recovered from her injuries she sustained in a car accident and was out with friends and family celebrating an upcoming wedding when a man with bad intentions cornered her. Luckily, Landon, a good Samaritan, saved her before anything serious happened, but it still left her shaken and scared, so he offered her a place to unwind and feel safe. Landon took her back to his father’s place so she could stay in his extra room. The two hit it off, and it was the start of a new relationship, and she got along well with his father too. Then, Landon’s father had a health crisis that landed him in the hospital, and after he came home, he needed extra care and rehabilitation. Landon still had a business to run back in Memphis, and now he had to help with his father’s businesses, his family had their own obligations to tend to, and it was Kim who stepped up to help. I thought Kim and Landon were perfect for each other and great together, and she was also great with his father, and he with her son, Hunter. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn, but so worth the wait romance. It was nice to see the characters from the first book and Bing and Hunter’s friendship going strong, despite the trouble they found themselves in. That was a great cameo by some Swifts too. Leslie Pike, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Connor Crais and Ava Lucas are a joy to listen to, and they perfectly embodied these characters, giving them voices that were believable and fitting. Lucas was a natural in Kim’s role, bringing out all sides of her personality, and Crais was just as fabulous and did the same as Landon’s role, as well as his father. Their talent truly shines in their performance, a performance that was entertaining and enthralling, one that kept you glued to the story.
