About this listen

Things were going great for the demon Bael-Sharoth until a little girl summoned him to open a jar of tomato sauce. Now he's trapped in the human world along with his arch nemesis the beautiful and capable Maharet Flameheart.

Life isn't easy for a demon in a small town. But at least the parks are hellhound friendly and the werewolf at the local bookshop seems nice enough.

Bael and Maharet must find a loving human family to take in this powerful young witch before time runs out or risk being stuck on earth forever.

The two narrators really played off of each other well and had a wide range of excellent voices for the characters.

The story is a really fun concept and superbly put together. I hope there are more to come.

Outstanding narrators and top story

I personally don't love the very animated narration but it is in keeping with the writing style. This cozy, humour has felt comforting in a week of political horror .

Cozy , light hearted , irreverent

first time reading a full novel by Alex and also the first time listening to Giancarlo Herrera and Hannah Schooner. but I'd read a little of Alex's stuff on royal road so had my fingers crossed. you never know what you're going to get when it's all new. but when near the beginning of the book Hannah in the guise of Maharet abruptly shrieked into the mic full blast with seemingly genuine anger, frustration and manic vitriol in the. hate! hate! hate! scene that i burst out laughing and knew i was in good hands. Giancarlo Herrera not to be out done went above and beyond in the resurrection of Murphy so much so that i thought he might have an aneurysm before the end. both narrators genuinely brought their A game to this tale. and the scene with Granny and the percussive maintenance of the Russian vacuum cleaner was pure comic genius.
would definitely recommend.
