About this listen

He doesn’t need a weapon. He is the weapon.

After losing his powers in an epic battle between good and evil, former sorcerer Nate Garrett finds himself living as a humble human in Clockwork, Oregon. While the world thinks Nate is dead, his friends continue to fight against Avalon and the evil it’s intent on spreading.

Avalon’s forces turn up in Clockwork, and Nate’s frustration grows with every passing day his magic doesn’t return. He finds himself trying to stop Avalon’s plans while hiding from enemies who would destroy everything in their path to see him dead.

Avalon’s darkness begins to threaten the people Nate cares about, and an old nemesis returns; magic or no magic, he has no choice but to fight. But will Nate see his magical powers reborn before the entire town—and everyone he loves—is destroyed?

Twist on the familiar

So happy Nate is back and can’t wait for him to kick Arthur into touch and Layla having her own sections was very good.
Wasn’t sure about the dual narration but I liked it and can’t wait for book 2.

More Nate is never a bad thing

So much fun to have Nate back, and Simon Mattacks does a great job. But Elizabeth Knoweleden narrates as though she's reading Jane Austen, or reading to young children. She has a completely inappropriate voice for this sort of book and that made her sections difficult to listen to. Fortunately, there were many more sections with Nathan, but it meant I ended up following Nate's story much more closely as I was tuning out when Elizabeth spoke.

Fun, but one narrator much better than the other

What a follow up to an amazing series!! Literally jumping straight into the next one.

The one gripe I have is Leila Cassidys narrator, she struggles to do any accents but herself and is what I believe truly bad casting.

Blown away yet again!!

Hmm, two narrators for this s story came as a surprise and I’m not sure if I liked it.

Enjoyed the continuation of Nate’s story very much but less sure about the introduction of Lyla as a separate story . I suspect her story will become an integral part of the series and I will grow to like her eventually. I may even grow to like her narrator.

That said, I’m off to get the next book in the series.

2 narrators?
