Summary

She’s his best friend’s little sister and off limits.

College freshman, Finley Farrow, has two fairly ambitious goals this school year: make the football team and get over Shepard Connelly. The gorgeous football player with the magnificent voice would one day be a star on or off the field. But he’ll never see her as more than his best friend’s sister. Now her eye is on the end zone. Making the team could turn out to be the easy part. Practicing with Shepard every day while ignoring her feelings? The real challenge.

Shepard hasn’t had it easy like the Farrows. He won his ticket to the prestigious Layton University through football. Yet his passion lies in music. His killer smile can get him almost any girl he wants, except the one he can’t have. Everything he’s wanted to say to her is channeled into his soul wrenching lyrics. But he’s been sitting on the sideline far too long, and it’s time to make a move before the team’s starting quarterback wins her heart.

A life altering accusation could fumble everything for him. Most importantly, his big play for the only girl he’s ever wanted.

Family, friendship and love bind them together. Secrets, lies, and rules keep them apart.

Such a sweet , feelgood story

This story had me smiling throughout and rooting for love to win the day.
I randomly enjoy reading YA, college stories. It makes me feel good knowing that life
used to be easy , and all you had to worry about was boys and lessons.
I liked all the characters, the two sweet hearts Finley and Shephard, and the rest of the family.
Growing up with a crush on your brothers best friend/sister was not easy, keeping it quiet, yet
staying in their orbit even harder. With all of the college parties. teenage hormones and popularity
contests there is lots to keep you reading on. l loved that the family and friends were so tight and
looked out for each other so much.
Finley being passionate about football, and wanting a place in the team, is not gonna be easy.
Shephard, with a ton of baggage, and a problematic childhood has to work so much harder to fit in.
An accusation from a vulnerable girl, brings all of the events to a head .
Will Shephard get his girl?
Will Finley ever be happy chasing her dreams of football and the boy she loves?
Will pressure from the family, and keeping up with lessons be too much?

This is a very well written story, with enough character development to keep you smiling.
Both the narrators did a very good job bringing all the voices to life, there was enough emotions
to keep me wanting to listen.

Cricket, what a story!

This is my second book by Terri E Laine, and I am just enamored with her writing. I was a little cautious thinking it may be too young for me, but this romance hits all the points I enjoy in a story. We have the Farlow triplets, and their friend, Shepard going off to start their first year of college. To stay with the boys, and be with Shep, her long time crush, Finley tries out for the football team and makes it. Socially unacceptable to be a girl playing football, Finley finds herself in for a long haul. But to her surprise, Shep is there to protect her. He too has had a crush, but being his best friend's sister has prevented these two from acting on their feelings. When they do, will he have to choose between his best friend and the love of his life? Not only do we have this story line, but the complex character of Shep gives us a whole other story, with accusations of misconduct, manipulation and sheer distress. It's a wonderfully written, compassionate and even a little steamy. Laine is master at his new adult genre.

Teri Schnaubelt and Zachary Webber hit all the emotions in this story. Schnaubelt is amazing. Her voicing of Finley made me remember being in college, feeling that incredible love as well as the hurt and frustration of situations. She made Finley credible and very real.Webber always delivers, and he gives Shep all the feels. He makes it so you know the characters, and feel their emotions. The two compliment each other well and made it a fantastic listen.

A Sweet Friends to Lovers Story

I really loved Songs for Cricket. It was such a sweet love story between Finley and Shepard. It was a coming of age friends to lovers football story. All of the characters (except for Lacey) were so likable. This is the beginning of a new spin-off series from the Chasing Butterflies series. Zachary Webber and Teri Schnaubelt did an amazing job bringing this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review

Good solid 4.5 star read.

Terri E Laine has produced a good story with characters you can identify with and want to get to know more about.
It is easy to listen to and follow with great narration from both Teri and Zachary Webber.
I am hoping we will be seeing more from the characters in this book.

This book is wonderful!!

Terri E Laine has written an amazing story of love, yes.. but also one the tugs at our social consciousness. She not only wows with a college sports story where a female makes it as a college football player, but one in which a young woman makes it her mission to ruin more than one young mans lives because of a past of not being believed.

Shepherd lives Finley, but is he brothers best friend. He has moment where he realizes that he could lose her, and decides that he needs to make a choice. He chooses, and there are consequences he may have expected, but doesn’t like. In the meantime Shepherd is accused of something he did not do and finds himself being railroaded by a system that he doesn’t have the means to fight. He finds out just how strong he is, how strong Finley is, and how much she is on his ream.

I love this story, and I mean every part! As a young man who could have wanted his accuser to be punished, he showed compassion. As a young man in love, he showed it was real and that he was in it for the long haul. This made me very, very fond of Shepherd. I loved everything about this story and the characters.

Teri Schnaubelt and Zachary Webber were wonderful on this book! Teri Schnaubelt was new to me, and she is very good! Zachary Webber was not new to me and he also did a wonderful job, as always!
