About this listen
Like a songbird in a cage, Anya has spent her entire life as the General's perfect daughter.
He snaps his fingers; she jumps. He tells her to smile; she beams like she is made of the sun itself. But underneath all those games and glitter, she's working to destroy her father and save the city she loves.
When an undine sneaks his way into her city, intent on kidnapping her, she lets him take her.
Daios is plagued by the decisions of his past. Souls haunt him, memories follow his every move, and all he knows is that perhaps stealing this woman will absolve him of his sins. If he can bring her back to his people, then they can destroy the city where his hatred was born. He's certain this will be easy. But then he sees the General's daughter, and he knows nothing will ever be the same again.
Broken and damaged, he's certain no woman will ever love him. He shouldn't even try to encourage the mating instincts that ride him hard the moment he sees her.
But when he realizes that she's the same as him, different from her people and on the outskirts of what others deem normal, he knows he's a goner. Even if it means he has to risk everything to keep her.

It was done SO well, and as someone with chronic health issues, I appreciate this type of representation!
There is an instant connection between Anya and Daios, which I don't always like, but their shared life experiences made it feel very right.
There is lots of angst and struggles due to inner turmoil and trauma.
Book two is quite different to one, the romance, characters/dynamics, and action near the end. This was such an endearing romance, and I loved both characters. Anya has been through so much, but she is strong, independent, and determined. She is different from Mira, which I really like. I adore Daios, I don't want to give much away, but his story, inner thoughts, and sweetness without taking away his warrior side is chefs kiss. He is also very supportive of Anya andnher decisions. The spice, it's only a couple time but so well done!
Mira and Arges are back, and I will admit I was over Mira. In this book she turned into a complete bitch! She was terrible to Daios and laughed in Anya's face constantly.
Maketes is also back and continues to be a really great friend to our MMC. I'm certain book three will be his story and I can't wait. I also look forward to seeing how the author makes his story different after these two romances.
Like book one the third part of the book focuses on the war they are currently in with the humans. Things take a rather dark turn, humans doing what humans do and have always done. This is a no spoiler review so I can't really comment much. I highly recommend this book, the romance, well done spice, other relationships and reps are perfectly done! Best yet!!!

I really enjoyed the Audio, both narrators were great. The only downside for me was the male narrator did the same voice for Daios POV/thoughts as his brother in book one, so it took some time to adjust.
Really enjoyed the second book in this series....

This book is nice tho, it made me feel a lot more than the first one, somehow. First one is still good though, I just don't like how Mira is with other humans I guess.
Loving it, but...
