About this listen

In this YA contemporary queer romance from the author of Hot Dog Girl, an openly gay track star falls for a closeted, bisexual teen beauty queen with a penchant for fixing up old cars.

“Earnest, wistful, romantic, and real.” —Casey McQuiston, New York Times bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue

Morgan, an elite track athlete, is forced to transfer high schools late in her senior year after it turns out being queer is against her private Catholic school's code of conduct. There, she meets Ruby, who has two hobbies: tinkering with her baby blue 1970 Ford Torino and competing in local beauty pageants, the latter to live out the dreams of her overbearing mother. The two are drawn to each other and can't deny their growing feelings. But while Morgan--out and proud, and determined to have a fresh start--doesn't want to have to keep their budding relationship a secret, Ruby isn't ready to come out yet. With each girl on a different path toward living her truth, can they go the distance together?

“Beautiful, necessary, and completely irresistible.” —Becky Albertalli, New York Times bestselling author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

The way it swapped back and forth between the 2 mains point of view was amazing. The story flowed continually and effortlessly. I binged the entire story today and enjoyed every second.

I am a huge fan or Jennifer Dugan and the tale of Ruby and Morgan is one I know I will never forget. I have read both the book and listened to the audio version and each chapter is so beautifully written I could visualise each scene and character perfectly. Their journey to becoming the people that they are by the end of the book and a roller coaster of emotions had me captivated from the start and this book made me laugh and cry at various points as well! I highly recommend giving ‘Some Girls Do’ a chance... you truly won't regret it.

Captivating and thoroughly enjoyable! I loved every minute. The characters were both wonderful and I was rooting for them all the way. Only thing I’d say is that the Morgan character was a little too OTT at times, to the point where she was at risk of being slightly annoying. Having said that, the book still scores a solid five from me. Go Jennifer D. Bring us more Lesfic like this please.
