Great book, thoroughly enjoyed, so much so that I instantly bought Vol 2 and continued listening as I didn't want it to end.

It did feel like Vol 1 didn't really end, was a little odd, like Vol 1 and 2 were written as a single book and just randomly split down the centre into two books. I'm not at the end of Vol 2 yet, so can't say if it also finishes the same.

The other thing of note, I think the vice acting is great, I understand previous reviews getting annoyed with the sound effects but it just to me that it's written that way. I've no issues with that. the only difficulty I've found is that two of the characters names are very similar and as an English speaker I finish it hard to notice the difference of the two similar Korean names. Also the name of the main character is often pronounced differently so I find I'm often unsure who's name is being said.

despite any of these issues I thought it was awesome. I've also now ordered the manga and look forward to the anime coming out next year!

This story began as a light novel before it was made into a popular graphic novel. I notice many people reviewing either picked it up as a fan of the graphic version or this is their first experience with light novels.
The sound effects aren't additions by the narrator, it's a common feature of the genre to write in sound effects, and coming from a Western culture the choice of sound can sometimes seem weird.
The translation is pretty good and narrator actually does a fantastic job of vocalising the novel, sounds effects included. If the sound effects are overly off-putting, perhaps light novels of this type are just not a good fit for you.

A good rendition of a popular Korean light novel

While there is little background as to how the hunters, dungeons came into effect- the story is initially a little slow, but develops well and keeps you listening.
The narrator is clear, my only issue is their need to do their own sound effects rather than stating what happens, it detracts form the story a bit for me hence the 4 stars.

Enjoyable story

Like everyone else said -- the damn sounds. I went from irritation to eye-rolls to laughing at the ridiculousness of some of the sounds. The story is nice though and I already bought the next one.
