About this listen

With four years in the Parachute Regiment, ten years in the SAS and two Everest summits to his name, no one is better equipped than Jay Morton to reveal what it takes to become the best of the best.

Soldier is Jay Morton’s masterclass in mindset, strategy and excellence. Drawing on his extraordinary personal experience, it provides in-depth, comprehensive lessons and practical takeaways.

Whether serving as an elite soldier, training as a high-level shooter or becoming an expert in HALO (high-altitude, low-opening) and HAHO (high-altitude, high-opening) parachuting, Jay has always strived to be at the very top of the game.

More than most, Jay knows that military service develops skillsets you’d never dreamed of having, and which can be applied to our day-to-day lives. We are prone to underestimating ourselves, but physical and mental endurance and resilience – as well as realising our own full potential – are well within our reach.

You know you’re reading a good book when you do not want to put it down. Was left wanting to know more!

I absolutely loved this book.

It’s the story of a man who to date has lived an adventurous, dangerous and ultimately fulfilling life.

Through childhood to into The Parachute Regiment and onto The Regiment, Jay tells the story of what’s required physically and equally important, mentally, to overcome so many of those human emotions and personality traits that can lead to failure if we allow them to.

I loved the fact that although Jay had literally no interest in mountains prior to becoming a member of the SAS, his posting within his Squadron would lead him to two ascents of Everest!!

As an ex Para myself, I’d recommend this book to anyone wanting an insight into life in the military but also to those wishing to have a good business mindset, looking to change life direction or just wanting a pointer in how to be more positive.

Congrats Jay on a great piece of writing and best wishes for the future and all the new challenges it’ll bring.

Motivation by the bucketful!

Where do I start...not normally the type of book I'd go for, but the respect is earned was what caught my eye!! I can honestly say this is one of my all time favourites. Much of the psychology aspect and it's application in everyday life, training and frontline combat situation struck so many chords with me and was my main reason for listening. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, not only for those with an interest in combat or adventurous pursuits but for everyone from those that may be interested in building resilliance to those needing to learn more about people management skills. I finished the book, then immediately started listening over again. Don't hesitate everyone should listen to this book.

bloody brilliant
