Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The global supply chain is broken, perhaps for good. How did we get here and what happens next?

Empty shelves, queues for petrol and energy shortages: crises more familiar to those who lived through the 1960s and 1970s have now become a reality as global shipping times are squeezed, containers lie unopened at docks and supply shortages push up inflation, increasing the cost of consumer goods from milk to cars to building materials.

In Sold Out!, economic forecaster James Rickards (The Road to Ruin, The Death of Money) explains why the shelves are empty, who fractured the supply chain and why shortages will persist. Drawing on years of financial expertise, he breaks down the history and structure of business around the world to offer readers a behind-the-scenes look at what is happening and the steps they can take to mitigate the worst of what's to come. By going beyond the headlines to explain how globalised trade really works, Rickards presents an essential guide to navigating the coming storm.

tedious book narrated with such negative energy

good thing is that it is not too long. book makes some interesting points but the part about supply chains is long. the conclusion is interesting. jim rickards is full of negative energy and listening for hours to his tone is tough

So much GEM in this book!

I wasn’t going to purchase this as someone left a review about it being boring. As an economist and lover of data- I’m actually going to buy a hard copy of this book so I can sit with a highlighter. This has been very insightful on lunchtime walks- I’m even on one now writing. Look, buy it- you won’t be disappointed!

THE most boring audio book there is on the market

The guy clearly knows his stuff but honestly, I've never listened to anything more boring than this.

It's like listening to AI transcribing flow and pie charts. You won't miss out not buying this book.

A lost credit for me and a few lost hours of my life I'll never get back.

On chapter 3 and it feels like a torture. Trying to listen to it in the hope it'll get better but only gets worse by the second.

This will be the first audio book I'm going to give up on.

The worst of all you won't learn anything from this book. It's just a big twaddle of random information.

A must read listen, excellent economic analysi

Thoroughly recommend, excellent appraisal of current economic environment, first few chapters a little slow as In depth analysis of supply chain but thereafter... Excellent Study this and its one of the best economic reads and analysis of past and current issues,

Impossible To Download

Dear Audible, after months of ‘Add to Library Unsuccessful’, I realize there is no way to get any help with this title. A company as big as you, not having any way to contact you or resolve this issue is surprising. Do better.

A detailed insight into supply chain 2.0

James Rickards has forensic knowledge of how our global supply chain works. It was a huge revelation to see how it works and how it is going to change. The book is also full of practical advice for the elite and the regular investor. Let’s hope some of the elites read this book!

For the financial beginner

Lots of dates, lots of numbers, short on original thought. Final conclusion to diversify your portfolio is at least sound advice but not worth the time and effort the book takes.
