Summary

I met Alessandra at a party. Tried to impress her. Was almost positive I was going to fail.

I think I said something along the lines of, “I’m a Goat called Fish who’s hung like a bull - but not really. I’m actually pretty average.” Smooth. I know. Try not to be jealous.

When she laughed - and I mean, really laughed - I knew she wasn’t like the other girls I’d been meeting on tour. Hell, she wasn’t even in the same stratosphere as those fangirls and gold-diggers.

At one point during the party, Alessandra said, “There’s nothing like a girl’s first love.” I knew she was talking about the first smash hit by my band, 22 Goats. Alessandra said it was the first song she’d heard by us and it “hit her like a ton of bricks”. Ironic, seeing as how I was having the same reaction from being in her presence.

I made it my mission to impress her. Give her the kiss of a lifetime that night. But since I’ve always been the dude with zero game, nothing went according to plan.

I’m not giving up, though. I’m going to win this girl over. I’m done sitting on the sidelines, watching the bad boy getting the girl. This time, the nice guy will finish first. Even if it’s the last thing he’ll do.

Not for me personally

I’m an older lady. This book may appeal to the younger readers as it’s about a 19 yr old girl still in school meeting the man of her dreams and, as far as I read, how he took her virginity, consensually of course. Almost like a ‘how to’. Didn’t appeal to me personally and if I had known I wouldn’t have bought it. It’s not a bad book just my type.

Loved it! I love how each book allows you to hear each characters story from the previous one and the added song was a brilliant touch

Nice book, even greater audiobook

Though it’s a little too Mary Sue/Gary Stu, I still enjoyed it. I enjoyed the sexy and the cute, mostly.

Neither Alessandra nor Matthew seemed to have any flaw at all, and it became a little boring. Sure, I can do without angsty drama but there needs to be at least some tension and conflict. There was barely any of that here. The little there was was resolved quickly. Matthew just knew Alessandra would be talented without listening to her, and guess what, she was. So incredibly so that every celebrity in the vicinity wanted to be part of her rising career even before she released her first song. As for Matthew, he was perfect boyfriend material from the start—even though he had been rejected his whole life. And talk about insecurities !

I wasn’t much troubled with the participation of characters from other books by the same author. They were well introduced and I was never confused.

Beware, cuteness overload ahead. The interactions between Fish and Alessandra were sweet and adorable. Until they weren’t—they sure bring the sexy ! It wasn’t exactly a slow burn, but there was a good amount of wait in their relationship. Once they become physical, it’s hot. Very hot. Though it felt a bit out of character for Alessandra.

The audio is a little treasure. Both narrators are incredibly talented, and cherry on top… there are songs ! It’d have been a crime for a rock star romance not to have any. And they’re catchy. And the cute and the sexy I talked about above ? They deliver it plenty. A nice book, but an even greater audiobook.

Totally smitten

This love story was beyond adorable.
The audio was incredibly done, with wonderful narration performances from Andi Arendt and Tim Paige. I wish all romance audio books were this well done. And the songs... sigh. Totally smitten with Smitten.

🎧 Alessandra and Fish/Matthew 🎧

Sweeter than sweet, first-love/rockstar romance set in the Megan Family/Riiver Records world., with full production singing performances as an added bonus.
Tim Paige's style is reminiscent of John Lane's so he fits right in.

Sweet

Andi Arndt is always the best and never disappoints, but I really missed Jacob Morgans Voice. overall the story was sweet. Maybe too sugary sweet for my taste. I loved Georgina and Reeds story, and this could not top that.

Super sweet romance that leave you happy & smiling

A romance that starts includes a scene from the Reed Rivers/Georgina /Liar trilogy that introduces the star struck couple. Matthew Fishbine or Fish is the shy, sometimes awkward, backup singer and Base guitar player for successful 22 Goats rock band when he meets aspiring singer-songwriter Alessandra, Georgina’s 19 year old stepsister at a party Reed is hosting. He is “ smitten” at first sight. She is a sweet, beautiful, nervous unsure virgin who is captivated by Matthew the sweet guy as well as attracted to Fish, the rock star. This is their love story, the story of her rise to fame, and how they learn to make music together on stage and through life. It is a feel good story with some hot scenes, a couple musical numbers, and characters from the Morgan Brother books (looking forward to reading those) as well as Reed and Georgina’s trilogy story.
The narration is excellent, and could only have been better had it been performed duet style. It would be a great candidate for a Lifetime movie or while it is too sexy for what Hallmark currently produces it could be a breakout for them with its happily ever after ending.
This is a stand alone with minor fretting but no drama Unlike Reed and Georgina’s previous trilogy. The characters are very refreshingly innocent and unbelievably nice; this story is like a bite of a favorite dessert, satisfying but leaving you wanting more!

Brilliant

If you don't laugh out loud while listening to this there is something very wrong.
I loved it when I read it, and I love it even more listening to it, and bonus real singing of the songs, well some of them.
Really is worth a credit if you don't own the book to purchase via whispersync

Just a wonderful, feel good, happy listen.

I don't write reviews very often but for this sweet book I will. While this is not the greatest book that has ever been written it is however a genuine uncomplicated young love sweet story. I found myself having a cheesy grin on my face throughout the entire book. Romance novels tend to have such over complicated plots and even more over complicated emotional baggage that a reader is often left going "wtf....is wrong with you people?" Simply put they can often just totally miss the mark on any forms of reality and because of that "norm" finding this book to be that total opposite was so refreshing. it's probably why I liked this story as much as I did.

Judge This Book by Its Beautiful Cover!

To me, that cover says it all: this is a fun romp. Loosen those support hose, ditch the too-tight skinny jeans or Jimmy Choos...whatever you need to do to loosen up and enjoy this book, because that's what it's all about. From beginning to end this book is a beautifully mastered blend of uproarious comedy with heart-melting romance, and very low on the angst-meter.

This. is. what. you. need. Get Smitten, and feel great about it.
