One survivor. Two detectives. Twenty-four hours to catch a killer.

Detective Sergeant Theo Wilde is out of second chances. After a five-month suspension that nearly ended his career, he's been given one last assignment: to guard Rachel Raines, the sole survivor and witness to a terrifying serial killer.

Dubbed the ‘sleeping beauty’ by the press, Rachel lies in a coma in hospital, fighting for her life. But as Theo obeys his orders to watch over her, another victim is strangled in broad daylight.

With the body count rising, Theo partners with his former colleague, DC Hannah Colby, and together they begin to identify a pattern in the past – a portrait of a malicious killer, with Rachel lying at the centre of it.

Theo can feel the pressure mounting, but there’s no escape. He must dive headfirst into a deadly game of cat and mouse, where even the thickest of hospital walls can’t keep the killer away.

Perfect for fans of Dept Q and Happy Valley, SLEEPING BEAUTIES is a heart-pounding new detective series narrated by Holliday Grainger (The Capture) and Billy Howle (On Chesil Beach).

Theo was too much of a loose canon.
He put others lives on the line especially when he was taking care of Rachel. He showed poor judgment on several occasions but he was also a likeable character.
Overall the story was enjoyable

This kept me hooked, Great storyline with limited predictability which can be difficult to find in the books I’ve listened to lately. The narrator’s are clearly spoken and certainly help to ensure an enjoyable listen.

I’m not surprised nor disappointed I predicted the who-dunnit, I’m surprised I tolerated any form of a love story, minimal eye rolling from me is a challenge. A flaw in human character is expected.
He succeeds in creating engaging characters as I really wanted to slap & shake the main characters, after pausing, reminding myself it is a fictional story therefore I said ‘well done Mr Holland, well done.’

First time for this author, won’t be the last!
