About this listen
I’m skating to the NHL while he’s running from his past. When we collide, am I brave enough to take the shot?
Tyler
Hockey is my life. My ticket to the NHL is in sight, and I can’t afford distractions.
Then Coach pairs me with Rowan, the new guy from Boston.
He’s talented, sharp, and annoyingly irresistible.
When he asks to hit the gay bar with me and my friends, I chalk it up to curiosity.
But one too many drinks later, I spill my truth—and suddenly, he’s looking at me like he’s ready to cross a line he’s never touched before.
I’ve been burned by straight guys before, and I’m not about to get hurt again.
Rowan swears he’s different. Can I risk believing him?
Rowan
Leaving Boston was my escape—from my mom’s illness, from the pressure, from myself.
But playing alongside Tyler changes everything. He’s not just the best defenseman I’ve ever met, he’s magnetic and so guarded I ache to know what’s underneath.
I’ve never wanted a man before, but Tyler makes me question everything I knew about myself.
I need him to see I’m not playing games.
This is real. He’s real.
And I won’t stop fighting until he believes it.
Skating to Him is the fifth book in the college hockey series, Desert Ice Hockey, and is the follow up to the Rock U series. It features a D-man burned by a curious straight guy and another having a bisexual awakening, hurt/comfort, and found family among the backdrop of the holidays. Desert Ice Hockey follows a group of queer hockey players, known as the squad, while they each battle for their HEA.

Story - 4 stars. Another really good addition to the ice hockey series, leaving only one character in the shared house without a partner - although that was being worked on even in this book. Two enjoyable MCs, quite mature and able to communicate, sweet and quite low angst. Rowan's bi-awakening wasn't too stressful, and their HEA was very fitting.
very good

Whilst I have already read this book, this is still one of my favourites in the series. Listening heightened everything, the drama on and off the ice was more exciting. The sexual frustration Tyler felt when he saw Rowan, drunk Tyler had me laughing and Rowan's inner thoughts when he realised he had more than a friendship with Tyler. His conversations with Teddy has still got me wanting his own story.
Another good addition to my audible library

Finley Cole once again did a great job in his narration of the story. He represents Tyler and Rowan beautifully, bringing a lot of emotion into their story. Recommend both ebook and audio.
The relationship between the MCs, beautifully done.

Christie Gordon's world is exactly what you need right now. A world where there is a city with a thriving LGBTQIA+ community. ASU and Tempe are exactly that place in her books.
Skating to Him is the 5th book in the Desert Ice Hockey series. It centres around Tyler Hodge, the star D-man of the ASU hockey team and his new partner Rowan Mackenzie.
Rowan is brand new to having romantic feelings for a man, but Tyler has had his fingers burned before when he was used by his ex just to "experiment".
I love the way Christie tenderly brings the two of them together. As always, her characters are exceptionally well developed and the deep insight into Tyler and Rowan's backstories made me so emotionally attached to them.
Skating to Him is an exciting, feel good story with a HEA that will make you swoon.
I loved Finnley Cole’s narration, and I can 't wait for Icing the Play, the next book in the series, to be released as an audiobook.
So good!

Tyler and Rowan are both on the same hockey team, Rowan being new. As they get to know more about each other they realize they have mothers with the same medical problems. Rowan’s fathers opinion and the team's acceptance plus the future of each of their careers give the edginess to the story.
The narration by Finnley Cole gave life to the characters.
Two meant to be
