Summary

Sisters Kitty and Jenny haven’t spoken since a very disappointing Carvery lunch. Kitty, 62, thinks Jenny is turning grey. Jenny, 66, thinks Kitty needs to grow up!

So when both sisters inherit a farmhouse in rural France, it gives them the perfect chance to heal the rift between them. Except the farmhouse is a wreck, the garden is terrorised by a flock of chickens, not to mention a donkey with a serious flatulence problem!

Kitty is determined to enjoy herself, especially when she meets gorgeous French builder Leo. Ooh la-la! And Jenny finds the fully stocked wine cellar helps enormously with missing horrible husband Paul - hic!

And as the two sisters begin to repair their fragile friendship, they discover that being bad is actually very good for the soul.

Critic reviews

"Maddie Please's latest novel Sisters Behaving Badly is a glorious romp that readers will adore. It's a story of quarrelsome siblings, second chances, a fabulous location and growing old disgracefully. Maddie's warmth and humour will put a smile on your face and leave you relishing Kitty and Jenny's hilarious adventures in a French farmhouse." (Judy Leigh, best-selling author)

Stilted

Struggled to finish.
Couldn't hear half of it, shouldn't try an accent as couldn't make out what was said.
Story would have been ok , but for the reader.

Pleasant escapism

Thoroughly enjoyed this book especially being a similar age.
I felt the pleasant escapism into another world, of being able to relate to the thoughts and behaviour of the characters .I found myself willing them to make the right choices and it was nice to have a happy ending without it being sickly sweet.
I would definitely recommend it to my sisters and friends of a similar age group.

Enjoyed

Enjoyed the story very much. The narration was good. A few dodgy french accents but that was good too.

Loving, bickering sisters

A fun, captivating book recognising the love between two older sisters who renew their friendship while renovating a cottage in France.

Well written and read. Very funny in parts. Anyone who harms fought with her sister will appreciate the sentiments.

Good but ….

So I might be a bit critical here, but it was a little burning if I’m honest.
Good book, well written and good narrator, but still a little boring. Why on earth were they going on about the wine chateau names on the bottle…? (And I’m a massive wine snob) but there was just no need.
Ohh well … to be honest it is a great bed time listen for this reason.

Comfortable

A very predictable story, but well written and one that wraps you up and gives you a hug. Thoroughly enjoyable listen, and good narration.

Great tale

Loving sisters falling out how very true to life. I wouldn't like to spoil the tale for another reader. They made me laugh as well as feel their pain.

Pleasant and enjoyable

Likeable characters, evocative descriptions of France and an overall feeling of bonhomie. A pleasant and enjoyable book about two sisters in their sixties rekindling their friendship. I’m not entirely sure if they “behaved badly” as the title suggests but it didn’t seem to matter in the end.
