I’ve listened to worse audiobooks, but normally they are free ones on Libravox or similar. A tune plays repetitively in the background for 15 hours, which at least serves to prove that your earphones haven’t fallen out during one of the weirdly long pauses, but is otherwise distracting. I keep wondering whether I’m now a Manchurian candidate waiting only for the tune to be played again before activating.

The reader’s voice isn’t dull and he seems to be putting the effort in to read it well, but constant stumbles and strange pronunciation do take away from the experience. It felt like it needed a decent editor.

The book itself is quite fun, but you are probably better off reading it rather than listening to this recording.
