About this listen

Coyote shape-shifter Mercy Thompson is attacked and abducted in her home territory. Fighting off a crazed werewolf, she manages to escape, only to find herself alone in the heart of Europe, without money, without clothing, and on the run from the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world.

Unable to contact her pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, but first she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy needs to be at her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves - and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise....

The Mercy Thompson story continues at a pace. This is book 10 in the series and is as strong as ever.
Patricia's writing has produced strong characterisation with new individuals being introduced with fully developed personalities, some good and some not so good.
As often happens the storyline starts with Mercy happy and content and then her world falls to pieces. this time she ends up in another country, at the start having to rely on her own abilities.
Will definitely reread and I would highly recommend this book but I would, also say start at the beginning of this series, all the books are brilliant.

Patricia Briggs Brilliance Continues

Just like all the other books in this series this one doesn't fail to entertain. My only qualm is the male narrator who speaks about twice the speed of lorelei king (which moment I had to keep slowing the speed down) and has about as much inflection and emotion in his speaking as a squash frog.

Great story shame about the naration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'd recommend the book but only to someone who was already into Mercys world. Might suggest reading a text version though.

What did you like best about this story?

Mercy I just love her knack of getting in to trouble and somehow getting out of it leaving the world a better place

How could the performance have been better?

Nothing wrong with the actual performances themselves but using 2 narrators didn't work. Lorelei has done a great job narrating all the previous books all the characters have their voices. Bringing in a second narrator for Adams scenes spoilt things for me. Lorelei could and should have done the whole book.

Good story Narration doesn't work

Another brilliant scary story with mayhem, and mystery. Read brilliantly again by Lorelei King and this time joined by George Newburn as the voice of Adam.

Using two actors (male for Adam & female for Mercy) really worked for this book which had alternating viewpoint chapters.

The only way Patricia Briggs audio adaptations could be narrated better would be with a Full-voice cast & I'd pay good money for that 😁

Excellently told - better with more voices
