Summary

Una giovane donna, ospite della zia nel Grand Hotel di San Martino di Castrozza, per salvare il padre dalla rovina economica deve mostrarsi nuda a un vecchio conoscente. In questo monologo-delirio, Schnitzler racconta una vicenda sintomatica della lotta della dignità umana contro il potere del denaro, raggiungendo i vertici della sua creazione artistica, cadenzando, come in uno degli ultimi quartetti di Beethoven, il progressivo scivolamento dalla disperazione, al sonno, alla morte.
