Summary

Judge Camille Avery, newly appointed to the federal court, is finally back on her dream career path. She's determined not to let any mistakes, past or future, get in her way, but a complex murder case and undeniable attraction to her rebellious law clerk threaten Camille's carefully planned future at every turn.

Attorney West Fallon is a social justice crusader, reluctant to put her career plans on hold to clerk for a federal judge, even if the judge is the man who saved her life. When he's suddenly forced to retire, West is stuck clerking for Judge Camille Avery, an infuriatingly stubborn - okay, brilliant, intense, and sexy - law-and-order jurist who seems just as unhappy to be saddled with her.

As Camille and West explore their growing desire and challenge the boundaries of their work and personal relationships, a big case threatens to destroy both their careers. Can their love survive?

The narrator sounded like she was in a tunnel.

I loved the story so I suffered through the annoying tunnel sound. I really enjoyed Camille and West's characters.

Horrible Narration!

Great story line with a horrible narration.
I recommend reading the book instead of listening to it.

promised of loved.

it was good from beginning too end how west and Camilla felt for each other and west was different from her but ahe still fell in love with Camilla because judge and clerk shouldn't mix up they personally life with they job.so the other judge Avery wanted Camilla too lose her job again like she did when she was a prosecuted for the state and thinking by framing her law clerk for leaking information too the new paper about the case she was presided over.

Worst by author and narrator thus far.

I’ve listened to 3 Carsen Taite books and probably 10+ of Lori’s Prince’s spoken ones and ya the title is my honest opinion.

The whole law and order topic Ms. Taite clearly and knowingly shares isn’t my cup of tea for a les romance but I enjoyed “It should be a crime” much more. I should have read this book first before ISBAC. This situation of judge and law clerk was not interesting. The characters weren’t very likable. Especially West. She was stuck up, cocky and crossed boundaries a newly graduated law person probably wouldn’t. Insubordination is not a complete turn off I just didn’t buy it with the Lifetime judge and however old law clerk. I don’t even think it’s mentioned how old West and Camille are. You can call their relationship a slow burn but literally they are in their heads 75% of the book. Plus they don’t even kiss until over halfway through. The story doesn’t even begin with a snapshot of their chemistry, just a conversation between them that talks about their courthouse. Snoozefest, this book.

Lori Prince usually carries any story for me, her voice is my favorite thing. Her voice is super cute and ya sometimes she sounds like a stoner kid when she is a male character but this was not her best. Her attempt at voicing a dude who had a stroke was too much for me. Super laughable, sorry Lori!

Boring

I am not sure if it was the narration or the story line. Characters seem very one dimensional and not much to them. The attempt at humor and flirtation fell dry. I didn’t enjoy it this at all, I skipped a few times a ahead.

Lori Prince rocks as a narrator.

I love this somewhat romantic and somewhat mystery novel. The story line was cute and Lori Prince killed it again as she has in other books as the narrator.
