Story
As a biker, I've always loved the open road - and no man ever compared. I’ve mastered the quickie, the one-night stand, and I’m not into changing things up. Why mess with perfection? When I roll into Snow Lake to take over my uncle’s mechanic shop, the last thing I want to do is settle down. Until I lay eyes on Grayson, who is not the kind of man suited for a one-night stand.

Story
I left my family and tiny Texas hometown 15 years ago to escape small-town gossips and to give my mom and sister the chance at a better life. But when a phone call from an attorney back home informs me that my sister passed away, leaving me custody of her newborn baby, I'm shocked out of the steady life I've built for myself running a tattoo shop in San Francisco. The thing is: I don't do babies. And I don't do small towns. Or commitment. And I especially don't do family.

Story
He promised to never leave me. But when I needed him the most, that was exactly what he did. Wilderness guide Xander Reed has spent fifteen years trying to forget the night he turned to his best friend in his darkest hour, only to find the young man who'd sworn to always have his back was turning his on Xander instead. Two thousand miles and fifteen years of building a new life in the quiet backcountry of the Rocky Mountains should have been enough to put the memory of Bennett Crawford out of his mind.

Story
Every bartender should follow one simple rule - don't go home with the customers. That’s been easy for me to stick to, until the night a cocky, confident, and sinfully charming hockey star walks into my bar. This sexy athlete is too hard to resist, especially when he makes it clear how much he wants the “sarcastic, witty, hot AF” guy behind the bar - also known as me. Still, I’m not keen on breaking my own rules since I know where that can lead - no place good.

Story
I left him behind because I had no choice.... That's what I keep telling myself, but it doesn't make it any easier to sleep at night...or to drown out the words he kept repeating over and over the day we'd met: I just want to go home. That was eight long years ago and I'd only known him as Billy, a terrified 14-year-old I'd had to leave behind to save someone else. But his name wasn't Billy and he's no longer a frightened kid lost in a world where he was nothing more than a possession.

My rules when it comes to my job in personal protection are pretty simple: Protect the client’s life, not their feelings. Don’t put hands on a client unless you’re getting them out of harm’s way. For God’s sake, don’t do something stupid like fall in love. Twenty-four hours after meeting Jude Archer, rules one and two are already out the window.

Sweet GFY story
- By Saiyaku on 04-05-20
Summary
Sean: I'm a cop on leave. I fled to Snow Lake for some R & R after what I like to call a "workplace injury". Since getting shot, I'm jumpy - I can't help but be spooked, imagining danger around every corner. There’s only one man who makes me feel like my old self - Porter Gaines, the town butcher. He makes me laugh, makes me forget my pain, my fear. But there’s something more. Deep in those dark eyes, I see more than a glimmer of desire. Porter might be the medicine I need - igniting the fire inside me again and making me appreciate the warmth and beauty of home.
When I came out of the operating room, I was looking for something - someone - that didn’t exist. Or I thought he didn’t. I stayed up nights, wanting and wishing. I thought I was going crazy, but meeting Porter makes me feel sane.
I’ve been married to my job for so long, and my relationship with Porter is just temporary. But when Porter’s little brother is implicated in a crime he didn’t commit, I know I’m needed back in Snow Lake. Maybe I’ll find the truth - and my reason for living.
Porter: I don’t get many dates in a sleepy little town like Snow Lake. With my full cargo hold of emotional baggage, guys aren’t exactly banging on my door. Sure, I’ve got my dreams. I saw what my father had with his wife before they died, and I always wanted that kind of happiness. It’s just not in the cards for me.
When I meet Sean, the sexy cop with dark hair and midnight eyes, I’m tempted far more than I want to admit. I keep my cool whenever I see him, hoping he can’t read my dirty mind or hear my jaw drop to the floor. I should tell him how I feel, but going for it has never been my thing.
I like my small, comfortable life. I made a new normal after the accident that took everything away from me, and I work hard to keep my shit together. Throwing a monkey wrench into the whole thing is...terrifying.
"He’s only here for a little while," a tempting voice says. How much harm can a week-long wrench do? "A lot," another, less-tempting voice answers. After what I've been through, I'm not sure I can resist the kind of love that Sean's offering. I just hope it doesn't destroy me.

New love
I really enjoyed this book and following both Sean and Porter they have baggage that they have to deal with. Sean is dealing with an injury from work and is suffering from anxiety and being jumpy at noises, he meets Parker when he goes and stays with his cousin. Porter has had a lot to deal with lately after losing his dad and having to deal with grief of it while looking after his brother and his dad’s business. Once Sean and Porter are seeing each other they have to deal with some vandalism which is being pinned on Billy and whether or not they will continue their vacation romance. Cam the narrator did a brilliant job.

Sweet romance and a bit of mystery.
I really enjoyed this story! I loved the small town setting, it’s always one of my favourite as it makes me feel almost as I am a part of the community, as the various books go on… Loved Porter and Sean, they are both great characters, but each of them did something I wanted to punch him for, at some point. In the end they both redeem themselves and their love story is great, almost inescapable. Sean puts his cops skills to god use uncovering something really shady going on in Snow Lake. I loved Cam Walker’s performance, really clear with the different voices and easy to follow

A cosy hurt/comfort listen!
This is the second book in the series and I absolutely loved listening this. Sean and Porter were beautiful characters and the attraction between them was real and intense. I love how the author handled PTSD and made it very original and realistic. This book was compelling and engaging and had all the elements of a great book. Opposites attract, hurt/comfort and a guaranteed HEA. Cam Walker performed an enjoyable audio delivery as well.

Sean, Porter and Billy's story
The second book in the Hearts of Snow Lake series continues with a single man fighting the traumatic emotional strain and fear of gunshot victim on his own., and his relationship with a pair of recently orphaned brothers struggling to make it on their own. Sean is a cop suffering from some PTSD type symptoms after being shot during the bust of a dangerous criminal feels a little edgy and expectant waiting for some shoe to drop and the case to never make to court or be dismissed. He is told to take a leave of absence for several weeks for some R&R while the case is prosecuted. Sean decides to spend some time with his cousin in Snow Lake for some quite time and relaxation. There he meets Porter Gaines, a guy, Sean notices who has a glint of interest deep in his dark eyes which in turn sparks a wild glimmer of desire in Sean, and leads to an affair that makes Sean feel like he's come home. From the start Sean and Porter agree that what they have will have to be only a temporary thing. When the relationship starts getting too close, Sean packs up and leaves without warning. But when a mysterious man accuses Porter's little brother Billie of a criminal act, Sean knows he's Billie's only hope and has to return to help the local force investigate. Cam Walker's narration of the story and characters brings the humorous subtle flirty, and, the hot and steamy, conversations of the couple to life, along with the hurt, anger and sometimes sadness of Porter's little brother Billy.
