Summary
Now, available in audio for the first time, Side Effects is narrated by Woody Allen himself. A humor classic by one of the world’s funniest writers, Side Effects is a treat for Allen fans and those just discovering how gifted he is. In classics including "Remembering Needleman", "The Kugelmass Episode", "Confessions of a Burglar", and others, Allen discusses such subjects as the nature of relativity, the UFO menace, and the predicament of modern man. Side Effects compiles 17 of Allen’s best New Yorker essays and offers wisdom and laughs in equal measure: "Ah, God, how the mind boggles when it turns to moral or ethical considerations. Better not to think too much. Rely more on the body - the body is more dependable. It shows up for meetings, it looks good in a sports jacket, and where it really comes in handy is when you want to get a rubdown."
Woody Allen’s short story collections Side Effects, Getting Even, Without Feathers, and Mere Anarchy are available separately or together as part of The Woody Allen Collection.

Typical Woody - laugh out loud
Unmistakeable Woody Allen - hilariously whining on about the state we're in with a side-chuckle highlighting deeper social and political issues.
Funny as always - leading to an occasional laugh out loud moment...
Who else could compare his brother- in-law to a couple of soft-boiled (or even hard...) eggs and get away with it?
Read / told by Allen himself.

There are side effects to reading this book.
Overall I feel that the storyline had many twists and plots. Sometimes there were more twists than plots, while at other times the plots outnumbered the twists by some margin. Quite frankly, I became more confused with this and...and could have sworn the plots and twists were in fact in cahoots with each other, deliberately teasing me and at times leaving me with an inferiority complex.....and we hadn’t even been introduced. That being said, once I got to know the inferiority complex, we inevitably became close and plan to wed this spring in Connecticut on account of the cheap train fares. For most part, the narrator did a really great job of impersonating Woody Allen, but you could tell from the occasional stutter that he was fairly new to voiceovers. He didn’t sound quite Jewish enough and I just kind of expected more fretful and insecure behaviour.
