About this listen

With contributions from Stephen Fry, Mark Gatiss, Douglas Wilmer, and many more.

1903 saw The Adventure of The Empty House and the return of Sherlock Holmes to 221 B Baker Street where he explains the deception of his death at the Reichenbach Falls to his faithful friend Dr. John Watson.

2012 saw The Crime of The Empty House where the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Undershaw, lay in disrepair and the threat of being destroyed forever.

This book was put together by fan site Sherlockology to help save Undershaw.

It was put together with the support of leading Sherlockians, BBC Sherlock, Granada TV, and many others. It's the only book in the world to feature four major Sherlock actors on the cover like this. Today, the building is fully restored and is the new home of Stepping Stones School for children with learning disabilities.

Ok, so the first section of the book wasn’t what I was expecting, with quotes and background info. It’s all very interesting, but it starts to make you wonder if the whole book is like that, but don’t worry, just persevere and you’ll get to the stories you’re no doubt looking for.
It’s also great that the book is being used to raise money to save ACD’s home… a reason I’m itself to get the book!
The tales and short stories are a great mix and I thoroughly enjoyed them and they’re all really well narrated.
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

A great listen for any Holmes fan!

Originally compiled to help preserve 'Undershaw', the house in which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's penned many Holmes mysteries (including the Hound of the Baskervilles), this is a wonderful collection of brand new Sherlock Holmes stories in various guises - pastiches traditional and modern, essays and even poetry.

The great cause behind it is reason enough to recommend this collection, however, the quality of the writing is very good and it is all brought wonderfully to life by the brilliant narration of Joff Manning.

This is a great collection of Holmes and Watson stories written by people from across the globe. The first section not what i was expecting but gives a full background to the history and origin of the book. All the stories take Holmes through his Victorian era through the present day and into the future, all are of excellent quality and .this is maintained throughout. My favourite is distraction which despite being less than a minute long is a joy. The narration is superb bringing the characters to life. I received a complimentary copy of the audio and am leaving a honest voluntary review.
