Summary

Loulou Landers is about to turn 49 and she's feeling seriously overlooked. She hasn't had a relationship for 20 years, her 21-year-old daughter Theo is giving her the cold shoulder, and is that really a bunion making it so painful to walk, or is Christian Louboutin losing his touch? Theo can't see what her mum is so hung up about. It's only another birthday. And she has more important things to think about - mainly herself. For not only is Loulou permanently single, but so is Theo – despite her legendary good looks. But over the course of a summer, everything changes. Two men set out to get both women back in the love game. The only problem is that both mother and daughter keep their burgeoning romances secret from each other. Because, in each case, there's a 30-year age difference. And that's only one of the issues.

Shall We Dance

This was my first audiobook and I only tried it because it was free and I couldn't get the book from the library. I found the voices irritating at first, especially Theo but I was soon hooked on the story. Definitely one of Maggie Alderson's best and I would highly recommend it.

Just give it time!

Look I get the bad reviews. I wanted to slate this book after the first chapter! but I continued on cause I'm not one to not finish a book. I love Maggie alderson. I love every book shes wrote, including this one! It's not the book, it's the narrator. The voice she uses for Theo is like nails on a chalkboard! BUT you can get past it. and actually, the other voices she does are very good. You just need to give it time to get over the annoying theo voice so you can fall in love with all the lovely characters and well written story.

Great book

Found the narration awkward and annoying to start with. Theo v hard to get to grips with. But gave it time and loved it as I love all Maggie Alderson's work.

ABANDONED AT CHAPTER 2

Would you try another book written by Maggie Alderson or narrated by Stephanie Daniel?

Unlikely that I'd buy another book written by Maggie Alderton but, most certainly, I would never buy one narrated by Stephanie Daniel

Has Shall We Dance put you off other books in this genre?

No

Would you be willing to try another one of Stephanie Daniel’s performances?

Absolutely not

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Such irritation I abandoned it very early on. The dialogue for the daughter was more appropriate for a ten year old. The performance for the daughter sounded more akin to the most irritating four year old. I honestly feel bad giving such a poor review but it was appalling.

Hated it!!

I've listened to another book by Maggie Alderton and although I liked the story was wasn't blown away by the narrator (who was different to this one) but OMG!! I wanted to kill myself listening to this one!!

She had such a whinge-y voice it quite grated on my ears and although I managed the first chapter (tricky but I persevered) by the time I got to the second chapter I couldn't take it any more!! The narrator can't read - she kept getting the inflection wrong (something I notice almost every narrator does andwhy aren't these performances quality checked??)

I had to return it and I will always always always take the time to listen to the taster bit in future - it will save me time in The long run.
