I went into this prequel knowing nothing about the universe, and I was positively surprised.
The story about Shadow, her sisters, and her mother, the goddess of magic and death, was intriguing and well written.
Since it only lasts 2 hours, I can only recommend it, even though you have not read the other books.
I know I will check out the other books in the series.

However, the narrator was really bad. She sounded robotic and her shrill voice was really rough in my ears, so I will be reading and not listening to the other books.
