About this listen
After publicly declaring war on the queen, Kenna finds herself in a race against time as she fights to free the shifters from the grip of madness and works to find and train an army equipped to take on the ruthless ruler.
More innocent victims are taken as the atrocities of the war between races continue, and Kenna’s desire to protect her people drives her to reckless behavior, dragging her chosen with her. The closer she gets to taking the throne, the more she sees the devastating toll that being the princess has on those she loves, leaving her questioning whether loving her is truly worth the cost.
With each passing day, the queen’s men close in, relentless in their pursuit, and when the unthinkable happens, the rebellion is left picking up the shattered pieces of what remains. Will they be able to survive the blow, or will the movement crumble, unable to keep the spark of hope alive? Find out in this thrilling conclusion of the Magic Bound series.
Shadows and Lies is a reverse-harem novel where the heroine doesn’t have to choose just one mate.

Good story, ruined by THE worst narrator.

Last book and so much happened, and I was eagerly sucking it all up. Even the darkest traumatic moments had me engaged and engrossed in the storyline.
I like easy reads where the MCs follow a story and with the smallest of margins, have a HEA. But I also like the reads that have me thinking, guessing, fighting with myself. This book was the latter.
I was made to look at my initial responses and reevaluate my thought process. Moments where I instantly judged a character thinking snap out of it or don't just give in, made me cringe at myself and have a firm talk.
Would I in that situation with that backstory and the current trials I'm facing just snap out of it, or be able to keep going? No, and I doubt many would, they would have to be Artificial intelligence to do it. That made me respect the characters and the story even more.
I enjoyed all of them, and while some may annoy me, I would be honoured to be part of their tight group if they were real.
Not only that but I even felt bad for the villain, as we get glimpses into her backstory, and as I watched her make her choices in the past. I also saw the choices of the FMC and the MMCs and knowing their background it all seemed to click together.
The book is filled with action, banter, cosiness, challenges, darkness, smexy smut and more. While the spice level would usually be my focus, I found it didn't gain my attention as much, because of just...well everything else going on.
This is not an easy read, and it a even better read for it. I felt satisfied with the conclusion and how it played out. I feel secure knowing I have nothing more to gain from this tale and characters because it ends with an HEA, nice and tied up in a bow, a bittersweet one after all it is a war and there must be losses, but... no wait that would spoil it...read it to find out!
