Story
Cat shifter Bree Dwyer doesn't fear much. Ironically, what she fears most is the person who was put on the Earth just for her. Your true mate wasn't supposed to be cruel and twisted; wasn't supposed to be someone who'd never love or want to claim you. The rumors that her true mate is dead bring her only relief. Bree's intent on moving forward with her life and building a future with someone else. Sadly, the male she wants most is one she can never have - a hot-as-sin wolverine shifter who happens to be her boss...and the cousin of her predestined mate.

Keenan is the mistake Khloe knows she shouldn't make. As an incubus, he's got an inside track into everything that makes her tick, and even though she's immune to his supernatural (and frankly unfair) sex appeal, that doesn't stop her body - and her demon - craving him. If it were any other male she'd have worked it out of her system ages ago and moved on, but this time she's scared that if she ever gives in, she won't escape unscathed.

Summary
New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan returns to her sexy new series starring a Chicago crime family with a mystical secret.

His recklessness puts not only his life at risk but the future of his entire family. To save them all, he must find a woman who can meet his every desire with a heat all her own.
Just when Ricco has given up hope, he meets her - a mysterious woman whose shadow connects with his. She's someone looking for a safe haven from the danger that has stalked her over the last several months. In Ricco's embrace, she finds one. HOT, HEATED & FAST EXCEPT THE SHIBARI
Shadow Riders, Marriko & her unknown saviour Ricco. Both from great Shadow Riders Families, especially unknown to Marriko's Family, hers is legendary.
I'm going to input my 1 niggling negative Pointer & that is there's areas where there's repetitive a little too much in a couple of areas.
But forget about that. This is another great piece of work with the shadow blenders & these 2 connect even though she was going to his on a mission, which turns around when she sees he's not the person she's been told he is. And he knows why she's there but he has to have her.
So here we have ANOTHER GREAT piece of work by the fabulous Christine Feehan, where we've got lots of action in BOTH the physical & sexual sense. but heck the sexual IS SO SENSUAL.
REALLY RECOMMEND IT

It's a good, not great read.
As a Christine Feehan fan, I've read all her published work. This isn't a favorite. It's a little slow and repetitive. I enjoy the concept of the shadow riders and as usual she draws interesting multifaceted characters. The first book in this series moved faster. Once the characters and basic plot were established, the story seemed to bog down. I think the next book will determine the viability of this series.

A FAILURE ON ALL LEVELS!!
What disappointed you about Shadow Reaper?
Repetitive, not enough romance between H/H, to much action fight scenes and to many names of characters to keep up with.
What was most disappointing about Christine Feehan’s story?
Needed more Romance between H/H and less fight action scenes
What didn’t you like about Jim Frangione’s performance?
I usually love Jim Frangiones Narration and have listen to many of them. But he recorded Shadow Reaper's volume to low. I could barely hear it I moved away from my kindle a few feet. I had the volume as far as it would go and it was just recorded to low.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I liked the idea of the story but it just wasn't written well
Any additional comments?
I know I am the odd man out on Shadow Reaper. There are so many 4 & 5 star reviews but I am sorry Shadow Reaper is a total failure in my opinion. For the last 3 or 4 years The Queen of Paranormal Romance Christine Feehan has been a Hit Or Miss. This was a Miss. She spent to much time on outlandish fight action scenes instead of equalizing it with romantic scenes between Ricco Ferraro and Mariko Majo/Tanakas. Ok I am not interested in reading about rope tying what the heck is this, just a fancy way of describing sexual bondage? Oh don't get me started with the repetition verses in this story. CF says the same thing over and over just in a different ways. There has to be 50 plus characters names you have to remember, either Italian or Japanese names which she uses to fill up her word count. I am sorry to all my many Feehan friends out there but this is a terrible story!! but I am glad you liked it. For those of you who know me. You know I call it as I read it. I don't think this is the series for me. I can't see myself reading Nicolette's story. I am sick of heroines who have been repeatedly gang raped and beaten. In this case Nicolette by her 3 step uncles. She has beaten and raped everyday by them for 2 years!! I Cannot Not Recommend this series. But I love Christine Feehans Dark series, GhostWalker series and her Leopard series. I will just stick with those series. Sometimes an author can write to many series and loose there way! Not enough connection
Missing that intangible that make you want more yet satisfied. Loved the primary characters but the intimacy between them just wasn't there for me I thought because of what she had gone through there would be more interaction in friendship between the women. There was teasing.and acceptance yet it seemed superficial. Not enough reconciliation or perhaps closure a couple more chapters would have given the reader satisfaction reality is fine but in some instances the antagonist need too recognize the truth. I have to I love the concept of this new series. This one missed that final thread that would have put a bow on top a wonderful gift to be enjoyed over again. I will still read this series with anticipation. The first had everything one looks for from CF. A loyal fan.

Disappointed
I was eagerly anticipating this book. The first half felt very repetitive as things were said over and over chapter after chapter. The last half was long drawn out sex scenes. At the heart of the story, it was good, but too much fluff left me disappointed. Narrator mispronounces names from book to book, and that's irritating.

So disappointing
I have enjoyed all of the different Christine Feehan series. The first book in the Shadow series was suspenseful and enjoyable. I kept giving this book, Shadow Reader, time to improve, but the relationship between the two main characters and the "art of ropes" was just too cheesy!!! What a waste of money:(

Where did Christine Feehan go? Not up to standard
Much as I have enjoyed other Feehan series, this one is not anything I will waste more time or money on.
When I first read about Shadowriders I thought the premise was wonderful and could imagine all kinds of directions the plots could go, strong heroes and heroines, and villains you love to hate. Sad to say that none of her characters have any. None of them matter to me. It looked like there would be a continuing plot between the Ferraros and the family that tried to wipe them out, but...no.
Ms. Feehan has the ability to write wonderful, intricate plots with excellent character development. What happened? To say the plots are trite and mostly violent garbage is the least of the problems with all of her Shadowrider books.
Very disappointed with the direction of all of her writing. I just hope she gets over this 50 shades of beat the reader up and gets back to the involved, intelligent writing she is capable of.

Woah! This book is beyond bad!
I have read/listened to many books by this author. She has long been my favorite. But this book was awful. I dreaded hearing it so much I often delayed doing projects that I would normally listen to books while doing. Did she read a certain 50 shades book & then think that’s what her readers wanted? Gaaah! I’m looking for another author until Ms. Feehan goes back to writing a good romance instead of a trashy, smut book with more repetition than substance.

incredibly boring
Any additional comments?
Wow, couldn't get past the first hour or two. Horribly written. This was so boring! There is no chemistry between the characters. The endless conversations and descriptions are mind-numbing. The whole Japanese rope art thing was gross and ridiculous. I'm embarrassed that Jim Frangione had to read this out loud.
