Summary

Master Integrative Life Coach shows listeners how to set healthy boundaries for deeper connection and freedom to create life they most want.

Do you feel like you're a "pushover"? Do you let other people make all the plans - letting them pick the movie, the restaurant, or the vacation destination? Does self-care feel selfish to you? And do you find yourself feeling resentful toward others because they don't seem to take your needs into consideration?

Can you relate? If the answer is yes, this is the book for you!

In this book, master coach, speaker, and author Nancy Levin will help you establish clear and healthy boundaries. This isn't easy; many of us don't want to "rock the boat". We assume setting boundaries will lead to conflict. And, unfortunately, by avoiding conflict and not setting limits, we tend to choose long-term unhappiness instead of short-term discomfort.

This book includes exercises and practical tools to help even the most conflict-averse, people-pleasing listeners learn new habits. You'll learn how to recognize and take inventory of your boundaries, view your boundaries differently by creating a Boundary Pyramid, learn how to say "no" effectively, and set your Bottom-Line Boundary. As your supportive guide, Nancy will show you how to gather the courage to live a life of "boundary badassery".

"This work was life-changing for me, and if you're someone who has avoided boundaries for years, it can change your life, too." (Nancy Levin)

I thought I had good boundaries but...

I learned so many valuable things once again about myself.
I absolutely loved this book and I believe every single young person should be taught where their boundaries are and how to maintain them.

It’s so important and key to living confidently and authentically.

I should have read this years ago!

I recently had a falling out with my step children's mum, there is no two sided version of the fact that I do so much for her, I mean way beyond the call of duty! My partner and her fell out slightly and for the first time in 3 years I stuck up for us both. Well I was cut dead. That part I won't go into because that is a two-sided argument, but I was left once again gobsmacked at how I was the one people didn't appreciate yet I did so much. I spoke to a support line at work who mentioned boundaries, I cried back to her 'I don't even know what that means let alone set one'. So I looked up 'Setting boundaries' and read this one. It has been such a light bulb moment and I have instantly been given the tools to start setting mine. I emailed my step kids mum and we met up where we both had our say and yes I set my boundaries of what favours I would do and not do going forward. I made a meeting with my boss about him making decisions for my staff without my consent (he really struggled to take negative feedback but we got through it professionally) Before I go straight into 'people pleasing' I check with myself, am I happy to help or annoyed at being put upon, before I would say yes to everything. The book also helps you look at root cause of being this kind of person. I think we should all be taught this stuff, some of the books had meditations in which I skipped but overall it was very easy to understand, and it did the job,

Mental Health

This is an amazing book. I was worried to find there was a bit about people with mental health problems, saying that 'we should not be spoken to' by our partners about their boundaries, and that 'people like this will not be able to understand them.' Have you ever thought that it's actually really hard for people with mental heslth difficulties to get their needs met? That it's helpful when someone is transparent about their boundaries? indeed for people with BPD, this allows them to feel safe and forms a large part of their treatment.

I was sad to hear an attitude such as this in such a great book. We are not in the dark ages and people with mental health problems need encouragement and support, not punishment.

A must read

Absolutely brilliant and daunting approach to boundary setting. This book has appeared at just the right time during this chapter of my life. I appreciate every story and suggestion outlined in this book, as I've now come to realise that I've been the one who has crossed the boundaries in my life, causing others to behave in a manner I didn't appreciate and couldn't at the time explain why - when I thought I did all the right things. Not that I have started to set boundaries, yes its been hard, but that discomfort in the short term as taught me to sit with that feelings and its ok as I'm still here and the world didn't end - Smile. For those who are going through challenging relationships whether its with: family, friends, loved ones &/or colleagues this is an ideal book to bring about awareness on what a boundary is not, as well as putting yourself first. I love this book and will be reading & listening to it again again, as well as doing the exercises. Thank you so much Nancy xXx

A way to freedom

At the beginning I thought it was not about me, but now I am finally free, and it is an incredible feeling, I am more creative and happier, I am me, I was not expecting it.
