About this listen
When you’re autistic, it can be tough to prioritize wellness.
Self-Care for Autistic People can help you engage in some neurodivergent self-care—without pretending to be neurotypical. You’ll find more than 100 activities that help you accept yourself, destigmatize autism, find your community, and take care of your physical and mental health. You’ll find solutions for managing the challenging aspects of autism, as well as ideas to bring out the many positive aspects. With expert advice from therapist Megan A. Neff, this book will help you make the most of your life and your diagnosis.
The level of detail in each section varied between 'good' and 'a starting point', with some concepts slightly glossed over. There were also unnecessary platitudes like "you are always worthy of love", which the author herself indicates she doesn't appreciate.
I came close to getting a refund but, overall, the book crossed the threshold into 'useful'. Its brevity is probably one of its main strengths. I recommend it, especially for those new to the topic.
Quite useful, especially for those new to the topic

Dr Neff describes the wide range of ways the autistic mind works and needs accommodation, Not all of these might apply to you, or, might apply strongly/weakly. But by having it all described, even though some of it didn’t apply to me, I came away from the book with a far greater understanding of autism. This gives me a more compassionate, inclusive appreciation of how I can be more accommodating towards neurodivergent people.
The narration and production was superb; the perfect voice for the topic and text.
Thank you Dr Neff & Audible.
Very useful in itself, and for inclusivity awareness
