From the bestselling DI Nick Dixon crime series, secrets, lies, and a truth buried in a borrowed grave.

A body is found in a newly dug grave in a rural Somerset churchyard. The murder matches a series of brutal attacks blamed on a serial killer in Devon, and a DNA profile neatly points to the same suspect.

Fresh from another bruising encounter with the Professional Standards Department, Acting Detective Superintendent Nick Dixon knows the scene is wrong and the evidence staged—someone else has engineered this killing to silence the victim.

Ordered not to overcomplicate the investigation, and with his judgement under scrutiny, Dixon must choose between the convenient solution or digging deeper to uncover a truth someone is desperate to hide.

Another fantastic book in the Nick Dixon series, couldn’t stop listening, can’t wait for the next one in the series, highly recommended.

Another great read

Having read the first 15 books in the series thought I would give listening a try for book 16. It didn't disappoint!

A story with lots of twists which are thoroughly enjoyable. Can stand alone but books 1-15 worth a listen as there are ongoing characters involved.

Narration was spot on. Enjoyed the west country accents. And Nixon doesn't disappoint.

So overall an easy one to recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed the next instalment from DI Nick Dixon. The narrated is perfectly suited and enhances the experience too

I was worried our hero might have been irreparably damaged, but no , he is back, a little more alone in his endeavours but victorious!

Well paced, well narrated

I like how each book refers lightly to the key points of the previous book. For me it serves as a gentle reminder, which is perfect if it has been some time since I listened to the last one. I don’t think this would impact on the current investigation too much if reading as a standalone though. Like all the previous books in this series, this is another fast-paced thriller and has so many twists and turns that I kept changing my mind on who I thought was guilty. I would be certain for a chapter or two and then I would change my mind again with the next nugget of information given. I’m so invested in Dixon’s life now, I like how he doesn’t always play by the rules but, he does it for the right reasons and always get the right results. I’m also enjoying seeing his family grow and evolve, from being just him and Monty, to Jane and now a baby! I’m going to be devastated when this series ends, and I sincerely hope there are a lot more investigations that only Nick and his trusty team are capable of solving. As for Simon Mattacks, he will now always be DI Dixon to me, he has been ruined for any other character, ever!

Fabulous
