Brilliant 1st book of this series,

Great book, keeps you wanting to read more. I didn't think I would like more bad boy books but these are great.

Mercy

Although I enjoyed the first instalment of Mercy's story and this series there were parts of it I didn't but I'll mention them later. Mercy's father the leader of the Claws Gang arranged for her to marry the head of a rival gang to cement peace between his gang and theirs. Originally Mercy thought that she might be able to build a future with her new husband, little did she know it was his intention to kill her and her whole family. He did in fact kill her whole family but she managed to escape and ended up seeking shelter from the Nobles where four of the guys Wylder, Kaige, Rowan and Gideon catch her eye just as she catches theirs.

The Nobels seem to rule everything but four of the men immediately grab her attention, these guys are all dangerous but that's where the similarities end because they have very different personalities which make for an interesting dynamic. The leader is Wylder, he's utterly ruthless then there's Rowan, the charmer with whom Mercy has a history which is revealed slowly as you get into the story, then Gideon the brains of the organisation and last but not least Kaige is the muscle. Despite their differences, these guys work really well together and are a force to be reconned with.

Mercy's strong, she had to be to survive in the environment she grew up in and as she and the guys spend more time together the guys begin to wonder if there's more to her than just the pampered princess they were expecting her to be, she's certainly fearless and strong but there's more to her than that. After all, a lot has happened to her in her life already and just she was looking forward to this new beginning her life turned into a nightmare of murder and betrayal, now she's determined to get revenge on her fiancé, but will the guys help her?

The chemistry between her and Kaige is palpable I have to admit of the guys he was my personal favourite, he's sexy, strong with a body to die for yet he's flirtatious, cheeky and fun. Gideon may be quieter, but there's just something about him that intrigued me. While Wylder is a natural leader and takes over any scene he's involved in then there's Kaige, I'll let you decide what you think about him.

They don't make it easy for Mercy to prove herself, to show them how strong her character is and just what she has to offer but in the end, she comes through. That said, and this is my criticism, there were times she let them walk all over her and didn't show her natural strength of character, something about this just didn't sit right with me. But overall the plot was interesting, I liked the element of mystery, the many plot twist and how they go about solving the murder.

Then we have the ending........ an ending I for one am hoping turns out to be misdirection on the part of the author. But until I listen to the next book I just won't know.

better

better than I thought as this is not my typical read/listen. As Mercy's fiancé (gang) kills her family she seeks help from the Nobles to get revenge. In the process she has to prove she is worth helping.

WOW

I loved listening to this book! This is such a delightful and sometimes dark mafia story.

The characters are well thought out and written, they all have hard shells but do start to let their vulnerabilities come to light.  Mercy has many delightfully unexpected strengths.

This book is full of twists and turns keeping you on the edge of your seat. It was a joy listening to this book especially after reading it a couple of months ago, the narrators are superb and really brought these characters to life.

A princess of a story

Wow Eva and Harlow wrote a great start to a series . It had me glued right till the end . The story is very well detailed , the story has everything you would want , action, revenge and mystery.
What did the heroine Mercy do who does she turn to when her fiancé slaughtered her whole family. There is only one family that she can go to , the Noble family. Wlyder Noble the heir and his three right hand men of Kaige, Gideon and Rowan plus his Aunt put Mercy through the wringer.
There is also a betrayal in the Noble household, you will never suspect who it is. What I like about this story, that there is plenty of POV and of course a cliffhanger. Get ready for book 2

The performance of Ava Lucas, J.F. Harding brought you right into the story . It seems your standing right beside the characters.

Steamy Mystery

Scorned princess gives us strong female characters, lots of sexy time 🔥, a mystery and a sprinkle of tragedy! The ending is such a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to listen to book 2!
